Experiences of early potty training (a la Baby Whisperer)?

Anyone had any experience of trying Tracey Hoog's suggestion of starting potty training between 9 and 15 months? I know all the arguments for and against early/later training, just interested to hear from those who have given it a go.
Thank you!

We followed the BW book, and started at 10 months.

We were not totally strict, and at age 16 months DD started in pants but there were occasions when we would still use nappies/ pullups which may have been confusing. It took longer than expected, with some no1 accidents (no2s were not a problem). But by age 2 DD was reliable, and now at 2.6 can take herself to the potty, wipe herself and pull trousers back up. And we saved on loads of nappies and didn't have to change pooey ones- a definite bonus!

I didn't follow TH but started with DD at around 8 months old. She was greatly interested for a few weeks but totally lost interest afterwards. These past couple of weeks she potty trained herself. She's now 2y 3m. DS was all done & dry in a couple of weeks at 1.5.

Have done it for poos - DD totally reliable except when teething. Really pleased - life much easier and lovely that DD nevers sits in her poo - sorry if TMI. Great for her skin as no nappy rash.

Definitely go for it. Helps if you can go to toilet same time and have her facing you - have chats/maybe read a book sometimes. My little DD loves it. She is now 16 months and doing well at it.

Oh can someone give me some info please, sorry to hijack thread!!!

My ds is 18 months old and always pulls at his nappy as if he wants it off.

My mum looks after him whilst I'm at work and she mentioned to me the other day about trying to toilet train him. My dd was dry by about 2yrs 4 mths but that was a really long time ago and I've forgotten what to do.

Is the Baby Wisperer a book or something?

Mumfun · 21/06/2007 20:34

The Bay WHisperer is a book. But I didnt do it from there - just from other stuff Id read. if you look at other threads here there are other people writing stuff about this subject - that should help you.
