Winter afternoons with toddler and baby - what do you do?

After a miserable wet afternoon stuck inside with dd 2.9 and ds 6 weeks I’m wondering what on earth I’m going to do during the winter?

I’m getting a bit better at getting us all out and to play groups/ library/ activities/ playground etc in the morning and have a rough routine for the week. But I really struggle with filling the afternoons.

Dd doesn’t nap but we have some quiet tv time after lunch. But today I was at a complete loss on what to do to fill the time till dinner.

Dd is rubbish at playing with anything. She mostly has no interest in her toys, and if she does play needs it to be heavily led by me. She also has no attention span for any arty crafty stuff. And anything too messy seems logistically tricky with the baby to juggle too.

We don’t have many local friends with similar age kids so play dates are few and far between .

Any tips or ideas for entertaining us all? Thanks!

We have a pass for soft play so do that a lot. Otherwise baking, films, books.

It won’t always be raining. Invest in a snow suit & lined wellies, and enjoy frosty sunny mornings.

I used to have zoo pass, go for walk in rain, go to see a friend, go to shops, go to park, do baking, play doh, fill sink and put animals and squirt my toys in, painting. I feel exhausted just thinking about it now!!

Indoor obstacle course with the sofa cushions, sheets hung up over chairs to be tunnels, balls to pick up and drop in the laundry hamper.
