Mamma to a mini drag queen – anyone else??

My eleven-year-old son – clever, articulate and lovely, isn’t sure yet about his sexual orientation. Why should he be, after all – there’s absolutely no reason why he should have to decide now or ever on a firm preference. He is, however, passionate about drag, and aspires to be a drag queen, principally, I think, on aesthetic grounds. He has put together an amazing drag look – a proper eleganza extravaganza – that he intends to wear at Halloween.
I love and support him utterly, as does the whole family, but I also want to protect him- he’s a sensitive child - from negative feedback, now and forever. Anyone else in a similar situation??

Hopefully he has a good group of supportive friends but unfortunately it's impossible to protect kids from the censure of their peers forever. The best your can do is give him confidence and teach him that he is amazing and that anyone who tells him otherwise, for any reason, isn't worth his time.

Nope.....but a step grandmother to one. His make up skills are awesome and he walks in heels better than I ever have. Unique is a superpower, let the weird light shine bright.

That's comforting...Thanks, both!
I know I can't protect him from his peers forever. I just wish those peers were slightly more enlightened...
But yes, unique is absolutely a superpower.
