How do I get rid of the smell?

DS had a slight accident a few nights ago and the matress was soaking despite protective sheeting (which obviously slipped!) Although I have sponged and scrubbed the matress as much as possible, there are no stains but it still stinks of wee. I've put bicarb on it (didn't work) and sprayed it with air freshener and perfume (getting desperate now) but it still smells really bad. Any suggestions about what to do next? Unfortunately taking it out to air in the garden isn't an option as we don't have one!

How about that anti bacterial Febreeze?
We use that on DD's mattress if she has any accidents.

Thanks Lowryn, I wonder if I can get it here (I'm in Italy) I'll go and check the supermarket. Any other suggestions anyone? Can't believe that Lowryn and I are the only ones to experience this!!

White vinegar is good for getting rid of the amonia smell, you will prob need to dilute it with water and then spray it on, or else your bedroom will smell like a chip shop!

albert I was going to start the exact same thread.

I have used practically a whole bottle of febreeze on DD's mattress and the smelle seems to be going.

Every morning I strip the bed and stand the mattress in front of an open window to air it as well.

I saw a programme where Aggie and Kim said don't use air fresheners because they mask the smell. They suggested making up a concoction using a mug of water, a teaspoon of lemon juice and two teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda and put it in a spray bottle.
I haven't tried it though HTH

Do you have a south facing window that you could prop the mattress up against (window open and wee patch against it)? That, plus febreze should do it!
