Nappies...brand opinions

Hi! I was just hoping to get some opinions on different nappy brands

Currently got my DS in Lidl size 2 and while we’ve found them to be great (big, leak proof and soft) someone said that they put their DS in them and thought all they could smell was wee etc. I’m now paranoid this is what my DS smells like

We were using the Aldi ones before which again were good but Lidl is more convenient and I found the Aldi size 2 not big enough for him but size 3 way too big at this stage

Are there any other nappy brands that you’d recommend which aren’t as expensive as pampers etc?

One of the main reasons I’ve been using Lidl/Aldi was price and the awards they’ve won

Thanks!

I've always used the Tesco's own brand ones and never had a problem.

We stuck with Sainsbury's partly because they're good and partly because there's one round the corner.

We don't have an aldi or lidl near us but we did try lidl nappies and were pleased with them. Ended up going with Tesco as they're just as good and easier for us to get.

You'd know if they smelt of wee I'm sure. We had that problem when testing the number 2 pampers.

Sainsburys were the best for DS

I've always used pampers until I ran out when we were away I bought the Tesco ones, (no pampers as just a small Tesco express!) they were half the price and just as good.

Baby number 2 on the way will stock up with Tesco ones this time!!!!!!

I found asda to be the best for nappies. I tried Tesco and Sainsbury's and didn't like them as much. I prefer asda to Aldi nappies but still use aldi sometimes.

Normandy144 · 12/10/2018 07:09

I think I've used all the supermarket branded nappies at some point or another. They are all good, I don't recall one being better than another. The only thing I do know is that I have no idea why you would waste money on Pampers. Stick to whichever is convenient for you but I wouldn't go out of your way to try Morrisons over Tesco for example, as I can't recall a significant difference. Its really about finding the right fit for your child at that moment in time, which of course changes.

Normandy144 · 12/10/2018 07:11

I should just add I know that the Op doesn't waste money on pampers, it was more a general observation on why anyone would spend money on them!

I think it depends on your baby, what works for one doesn’t work for another. I’d say if your happy with Lidl’s then don’t change- if it ain’t broke don’t fix it!

I changed from Aldi’s when we got to size 3 as they were no longer any good for us. I tried Asda, Tesco and Sainsbury’s. Asda’s ALWAYS leaked and couldn’t cope with baby seeing overnight at all- baby would wake up wet every time. Sainsbury’s have been excellent- no issues at all. But I think it is to do with shape of baby etc

mindutopia · 12/10/2018 14:16

We use Tesco (well, we use mostly reusable but disposable for nighttime and when traveling). No reason other than because that’s where we shop. I found Pampers had a really weird chemical smell with our older one when she was a baby. I’ve never had a problem with the Tesco ones.

Rosesared · 12/10/2018 19:29

Beaming babies. They're a bit more pricey but: They do next day delivery to your door
They definitely see baby through 12hrs nighttime.
They got no chemicals so no chance of nappy rash and the best bit....they don't hang around the planet for 400years like other disposables. Biodegradable within 4-6 years!

MoHunter · 12/10/2018 19:55

Asda or Aldi here depending on where I go shopping, prefer Aldi’s - need a size bigger in Asda nappies.

MamaHechtick · 12/10/2018 20:02

Guilty of buying pampers. Once DD hit around 6 months pampers baby dry were the only ones that didn't leak at night.
Same for DS, he was a huge baby and pampers fitted him best.
We didn't have Lidl or Aldi. Boots and Asda I found too small, but Waitrose and Sainsbury's were fine in the newborn and pre crawling days.
