washing at 40 and dry pailing

hi at the moment i soak my nappies and wash at 60 but i'd prefare to wash at 40 and maybe start dry pailing. i want them to have all the germs killed off though.

until we move house (hopefully next month but there's been a few delays) i can't dry them outside so need them to have all the poo stains gone.

have just ordered some tea tree oil instead of using the nappy soak powder, can i just add this to the wash? would it be in the machine or draw and how much?

also would all the stains be gone? i wouldn't want any stains on my nappies or fleece liners as i want them to look perfect and feel so proud of them (i know i need to get a life )

TIA

also, i've just order some new nappies. when they arrive i only want to wash one to try it out first, could i just put it through on about 3 quick washes? they're 30mins long and only wash at 30 (just don't want to waste loads of time and money washing just one)

I always drypailed, but I did always wash at 60 and usually dried outside. Tea tree oil is brilliant at keeping the smells at bay! I think you need to experiment - and even if there are some stains left, the likelihood is that once you get them out in the sun, they will disappear.

i always do a cold rinse before washing the nsppies at 40 and i've not got any stains, if you do get any marks on fleece it isn't actually a stain as it stainless iyswim, just run over them with one of those lint rollers things or some brown tape and itwill remove the top 'stained' layer!

Can't you wash the new nappy with ordinary wash, don't most of us have at lesat one load on a day?

You must wash poo-ey nappies at 60 to kill the germs. Or wash them at 30+ with napisan (Oxycleanse, similar) to kill germs. Napisan will help eliminate stains, too.

The nappies only wee'd on can be washed at just 30 or 40; wee doesn't contain horrid germs, can be treated like ordinary washing.

I only dry-pailed, made a mess if I wet-pailed. But I don't care about stains, which disappear over a long enough period, anyway.

yeah i'll just wash the new nappy with the other clothes, i feel so stupid for not thinking about that

the tea tree says it kills off all germs that's why i was thinking of just using a 40. i always prewash anyways with nappies (i'm obssessed with them being spotless).

i've never washed a nappy at 60 in my life! must be a nappy slut- kids have never suffered through it though and never had a spot of nappy rash!

two drops of tea tree in the final rinse with a glug of vinegar- gets rid of whiffs, sanitises (?) and leaves them all soft and fluffy!

kreamkrackers · 14/06/2007 12:00

i can't get into my washing machine draw at the final rinse , it's the hotpoint one thats got a huge draw that covers the draw. i only got it cause it does 7.5kg washes

this one www.hotpoint.co.uk/macro/product.d2w/report?typeref=2 1&prnbr=AQXXD169

just run a cold rinse cycle, then bung the vinegar and tea tree in the fab cond drawer with detergent in the right place (i use eco balls so they go in the drum) switch it on, i have a stain blaster button/option so i use that

voila clean sparkly nappies!

kreamkrackers · 14/06/2007 14:47

yeah very similiar to that, don't think it has a stain blaster on it, will have to check the hand book
