After another epic meltdown DS said the reason behind it was he has no friends. Everyone else seems to have formed new groups or have stuck in the same group after the class switch up apart from DS. He seems to have noone to play with at lunch. I must admit, I noticed this a while back but didn't think it bothered him as he never mentioned it. Apparently a few kids have said they don't want him to play because he plays to rough, we have discussed this together at home.
At home he is either Lego or paper and pencils or books or throwing himself at the sofa.
I'm just not sure how to deal with this no friends thing. It must be hard on him and would explain why the last few weeks he has been coming home in a terrible mood.

You’re not. You wouldn’t be worrying if you were. Your ds is feeling sad, and when your sad everything seems to be going wrong. You clearly are trying very hard to ensure he has the resources to ‘fit in’ with his peers

Have just had a chat with DH we are going to see if we can have a chat with someone at school tomorrow morning. Then get let DS stay up a little later so we can discuss how he is feeling and see if we can find out why he feels so crappy. Thank you all.

It does sound like behaviour issues are causing the kids to exclude him. Meltdowns, crying if he loses, freaking out if anything is changed, being rough with other kids... it sounds like there might be undiagnosed problems.

How did his day go today?

Hello again everyone. So Wednesday was fine untill we got home. DH and I had a word with school and there was a chat about inclusion in the class. We got home and DS was a mess. He got upset and cried about everything. So we kept him up after his sister went to bed and discussed it and asked what he thought the problem was and offered him some suggestions on what he could do.
Thursday morning was a nightmare he had a meltdown at drop of in the playground and it took 3 members of staff to get him into school. Deputy head found him at lunch and DS didn't say exactly what happened but apparently it was much better and he had lots of people to play with. He came home and it was almost like having a different child. He was calmer and polite, was kind to his sister. He had a couple of moments where he got a stressed because he got a bit muddled with the activity he was doing but was quickly resolved.

This morning he went to school with no problems. Happily walked in with his sister. I didn't really see him at school today but when I walked past his class he smiled and waved and was with an old friend.

From what we have understood is that he has lots of friends / lots of people know him and say hi. I think there is a particular group he wants to play with who are his oldest friends but according to him they won't let him because his throwing is bad. He doesn't really like the games they play but he doesn't want to be left out and according to DS he would rather just sit and read but the school don't let them take books out during lunch break. I think he just wants to do a bit of everything and it annoyed the other kids because he doesn't just stick at one game. Which I totally understand.

We have next week and then we are off for half term and we go away so I think it will be a good chance for us all to have a little break from the real world. And go back with clear minds.

Just want to thank you all again for the support.
