Hey all I have posted for a while. I have a 6 month and as a ftm I’m finding it extremely challenging!! The first couple of months were as to be expected really hard and now we’re sort of in the swing of things my lo refuses naps and still wakes several times at night. Twice for milk and sometimes just to have a chat with himself! Anyway I’m sick of Instagram posts on perfect parenting and most days feel a little like a failure! I downloaded happy Mum happy baby by G. Fletcher and I think I’m just comparing everything! I’m Insanely jealous in the book that her boys sleep through and she appears to be a fan parent full of routine. It made me feel worse tbh! Although I haven’t finished the book so maybe it changes!! Anyway I’m rambling on but can anyone recommend other books which may make me feel less of a failure and more help!!?? Thanks!!

That book sounds a nightmare OP. The first thing I’d do is bin it and then stop following the lifestyle Mums on Insta.

Are you getting out much and mixing with other Mums? I found that this really helped although it can take a while to find your “tribe” Smile

If you’re after a more sensible book, try the No Cry Sleep Solution, Kiss Me! and download the Wonder Weeks App.

If you’ve tried the strict routines and they’ve worked for you and your baby, that’s great, but they didn’t work for me and they don’t work for a lot of Mums and babies. In fact some parenting books can lead to an increase in PND.
