What do you guys with babies do during the days when you're at home? We have play date and sensory groups but that only breaks up 2 out of the 5 days! I don't want my 8 month old to be bored!

I have an 8 month old too 😊

Naps and 3 meals have helped us to get a bit of structure to our days. We'll often go for a walk after his morning nap and before lunch - park, library, just a walk into town. At home in the afternoons we'll read (he loves noisy books and ones with different textures), or sing songs and play with his bubble machine. He's pretty good at playing independently too - he'll push his walker around, play with his shape sorter and instruments. Is yours crawling? We have a pop up play tunnel which is great for wearing him out.

Every now again I'll set us up with some messy / sensory play (spaghetti that's been dyed with food colouring, teething toys buried in jelly were good fun) but he doesn't miss it when we just play with his toys.

If he does seem a bit bored I just scoop him up and move to a different room - he's happy just exploring while I sort out the washing etc as it's a change of scenery for him!

I had to get put every day for my own sanity so did things like swimming, play groups, sing & sign and a music group. Local libraries often have some free activities on.

All of thingys suggestions are good too Smile

LO will love swimming Smile

Sorry, I did the typical MN thing yesterday of not answering your actual question and giving you ideas of what to do indoors.

When mine were that age they liked playing with the kitchen equipment while I cooked. So wooden spoons and saucepans make a great noise.

They also loved playing with things in their high chair, like jelly or edible paints.

Bubbles in the garden or park are always a hit.

Fill a tissue box with scarves or squares of material.

Make a treasure box.

I always kept the toys we had out to a minimum, 2 or 3 and would swap them whilst the DC had their biggest nap. I found they were much more interested in their toys this way.

And there is some more ideas here Smile
