TT microwave steriliser question

Stargirl90 · 03/10/2018 12:29

I'm 31+5 with first baby, planning to formula feed. I have bought the tommee tippee microwave steriliser that holds 4 bottles, it said they stay sterile for 24 hours as long as the lid stays closed.

I was thinking for night feeds initially I could micro 4 bottles, take the sealed container upstairs over night, then use them when needed (we will use ready made formula for first couple of weeks for night feeds, as this is all new to us and will be less stressful than making a bottle up through the night until we're used to it) but once the steriser lid is open they are no longer sterile? If that's right then what's the point in microwaving 4 bottles at once, when we can only use one at a time? Confused!

I just used to sterilise the bottles, reassemble them and put them in the fridge. They'll still be sterile then.

Maybe I'm just overthinking it, surely just removing one bottle then leaving the others in they will be fine?

Yep they'll be fine. Best to sterilise and reassemble though

I agree it does seem stupid and a bit extreme to say that they aren't sterile if you open it. Think they are just been over cautious. Like others have said take the bottles out and put the lids on and they will be fine.

I was confused about this also so I emailed Tommee Tippee and they suggested as a PP has to reassemble them straight away - they are then fine for 24 hours.

I asked about the condensation inside the bottles once they are sterilised and they said it’s fine as it’s sterile water but that you can just flick it out if you want to

Yep reassemble them and they will be fine. And use ready made formula for the first few weeks. It was a god send when feeding little and often i wish id done this with my first.
