Nappy Rash

My one month old constantly has nappy rash and I’ve no idea how to get rid!

Midwife suggested metanium. As soon as we think it’s working the rash comes back with vengeance. We try airing her out but she hates being undressed so we can only do that on the rare occasion she’s happy not to have bottoms on!

Thinking of taking her to the docs but wondered if there’s any other suggestions to help clear it up. Thank you!

I just came on to say Metanium as well. Not the barrier cream, the rash cream. It works wonders.
If the nappy cream isn't helping you, maybe ask GP. It could be something else?

It could be a yeast infection if it’s not clearing. I’d take her to the GP. My DS was very prone to nappy rash and the metanium would make a big difference within 24 hours.

Also maybe consider changing nappy brand and not using wipes, just water and cotton wool or a flannel until it’s all cleared up

We use bepanthen. Don't know if it has different ingredients to Metanium but it works for my dd. I second pp's suggestion for cotton wool and warm water. Dry off thoroughly and persevere with the cream. We only use wipes for epic poops and when we're out.
Took nearly a week to be totally better but she's much happier now.

Pampers baby wipes give my dd a sore bum, as do expensive biodegradable wipes from Waitrose. The only baby wipes that defo don't irritate her are Sainsbury's own sensitive wipes.

However when teething all bets are off and she gets bum rot!
