As title suggests he is having moments where he screams like the world is literally ending. I've so far put it down to separation anxiety as he gets upset when i leave the room but I cant seem to even comfort him much now. Its been going on for 5 days ish. We tried calpol incase of teething but no change.

At night i have to hold him til asleep which can take anything up to 40min then try and lay him down but 99% of the the time he arches his back on the way down to the cot and the hysteria starts again... On Friday night i caved and took him in our bed at 2.30am but he still screamed blue murder until 4.45am. Hes massively overtired now too as a result.
Tonight he was in bed at 7pm and this is my 4th visit to resetlle him. Hes just cried blue murder in my arms thrashing about for 20mins Sad. We're really worried. Any suggestions??

Ds regularly had ear problems at this age until about 3 years old. The doctor often didn't not see much past a a tiny bit of redness in the ear. Sometimes it would resolve after week or so but sometimes it got worse and the Dr would prescribe antibiotics, which generally worked

DS would scream if lying flat, which I started to realise was the first sign of an ear problem/infection. I used to sit up with him sleeping upright on my chest. Even like that he would wake every 40mins or so and cry a bit through the night. It was exhausting.

As it has been 4-5 days now, go back to the GP if it doesn't improve in the next 2 days or before if it gets much worse in that time

Hi @Jellybabie3 I remember you from our Oct 17 thread. Can't believe our babies are a year old now!

Sorry to hear about your DS. My DS has just had a molar come through after 3 days of normalish but GRIM smelling nappies. He also had about 8 hrs of a fever temp and was overall v grouchy. Can't comment on sleep change as he's never been a good sleeper and is in the bed with us anyway. Also worth mentioning that it was only yesterday that I felt any swelling/sign of a tooth coming through so wrote off it being teething. So... it could be this with your DS maybe?

Glad he'll be back to the GPs tomorrow anyway and it might help to keep a note of anything you notice that's unusual on your phone. I always found this useful as every time I get to the GP I forget!

Can I just say that ear infection needs a good look to diagnose as unless it's burst there often isn't a lot to see, when my little girl was really bad with hers (5 courses of antibiotics didn't shift) the doc told me to give her piriton as well as ibuprofen at bedtime to help her settle, I was told not to do it routinely but as she was so bad she needed to rest and so did I! And it did help her get a decent sleep. Not all night long, but she settled down happily which was a godsend after weeks of screaming. Another thing to consider is trying to get a urine sample to take in just to check there's nothing down there going on.
