Was wondering has anyone done any baby swimming classes with their little ones? Would like to bring my four month old,and was wondering what everyone's first experience was bringing them to it?Smile

Totally depends on the baby 😀 my two both loved swimming from an early age, particularly DD, but there was always babies in their classes who spent most of the lesson crying. I often wondered why they kept coming! FWIW I have done both waterbabies and puddleducks, fairly similar but I prefer puddleducks and still do it now with 3yo dd who is an excellent swimmer

I did this with ds from 10 weeks to 1 year. He never actually learnt to swim and it was hugely expensive, but it got me out of the house while on mat leave and I met some lovely people.

We started lessons again when ds was 3 and he hates it now so I don’t think the baby lessons did him any benefit at all!

But it’s a nice activity for you to enjoy with him, so on that basis there’s no harm.

Yeah that's what I was thinking I don't like to be stuck indoors. But I also don't want to get into a pool to hear screaming either Hmm My DD is normally a very happy baby .I might try 😊 Thanks for you're replies Smile

I started classes very early with my DS. At a couple of weeks old. He hates bathtime so I was expecting the same in swimming but he seems to really enjoy it. So I think it's definitely worth a go :)

We started lessons when DS was 10 weeks old, he's a year old now and to be honest I don't think he's really learnt anything.
The best thing they did was make my husband more comfortable with DS in the water. We're about to go on holiday so will really tell if they've been worth it then.

My doves it from 11 weeks old. It was great for us as it meant swimming was a guaranteed way to spend an hour anytime and get ds knackered so he’d sleep. Baby swim classes till age 2 then Swam weekly together till he was 4 by which time he could tread water and float. Started real lessons then. Can swim about 15metres now at 5.

I have just started taking my 2.5yo and he loves it. He's old enough to climb out himself, jump in and follow instructions (when it suits).

Before now, I've just take him swimming in open sessions for the pleasure of swimming. Much more flexible.

Unless you want to meet other mums, I wouldn't worry too much about formal lessons yet.
