Leaking nappies and pull up pants

My 4.5month DS is wearing size 4 nappies. Quite often he’s getting leaks through the night. Size 3s were leaking terrible and I realised we needed to size up, but still had a few leaks in the size 4. He’s big round the tummy and chunky on the thighs. I’ve checked that I’m putting them on correctly, as I definitely haven’t done on some sleep deprived nights! He mostly leaks at the top of the legs at the front. Just wondering about trying pull up pants at night, does anyone think these might leak less?

I would try a different brand of nappy

FiresideTreats · 21/09/2018 08:33

I haven't tried pull ups but wondered if he is wearing a vest? We found that if it was a snug vest then the nappy leaked without fail overnight! We moved to the next size up in vests and no more leaks.

BlueMoon33 · 21/09/2018 08:37

Yes, will keep an eye on the vests, some nights he wears them some nights not, so I will see if that’s making a difference!
In pampers usually, but now trying out Aldi nappies.

I've found that pull ups are worse for leaks! Have you tried 4+? Same size but more absorbent. Also the best thing really makes a difference as a PP mentioned. Keeps it all compact!

BlueMoon33 · 21/09/2018 08:43

i’ll Give the 4+ a go! I wasn’t keen on the baby dry ones that were all blue inside, are they like those?

Mostly when he’s leaking the nappy is dry at the back but buldging at the front.

You just need are larger capacity nappy. Will he fit in a size 5? If not you will have to change through the night.

BlueMoon33 · 21/09/2018 09:06

Yeh I might try a size 5 too but he weighs 19lb and it says for 24lb. However size 4 tabs don’t meet in the middle. And because we’re up feeding he’s getting changed at least once or twice through the night.

We’re co-sleeping and I’m getting tired of changing bed sheets!!

Thanks for all the advice!

Argh I have this issue at the moment too! 5 month old DS is 16lbs but has chunky thighs and has been in 4's (ALDI) for a while now, however since I opened a new packet he had leaked for the past 3 nights! It's leaking at the side of his torso? Again the rest of the nappy is mainly dry (so it's not saturated) and now I can't help but feel I have a faulty batch?! He also has worn vests the past 3 nights but age 6-9, maybe I should try a 9-12?

Prior to this the ALDI ones have been fab so I don't really want to have to change brand!

Hope you find the answer OP!

Yes that’s where he’s been wet mostly, up his side. I have been wee’d on a quite a few times whilst feeding him!

This has been an ongoing battle since he was born. I’m wondering if his body shape doesn’t sit right in nappies. We’ve tried Pampers, Naty, Morrisons and Aldi’s!

I’ve heard of others getting reusable nappy wraps to go over the disposable to help with the absorbsion and if it leaks it’s only into the wrap.

QforCucumber · 21/09/2018 22:19

When you change him are you pointing his penis downwards? We weren't at first - means they pee up and out!

BlueMoon33 · 22/09/2018 01:48

Yes penis definitely pointing down!

Ooh they sound good Di11y, will do a bit of research and look them up.
