Any recommendations for a baby carrier for a 6lb newborn.
I have a sling which worked brill for dc1 but dc2 doesn't seem to get on with it.
I have a baby carrier for when dc2 Gets older min weight is over 8lbs but need something in the meantime.

Amawrap

Hana bamboo wraps are amazing. Has a 2way stretch so baby can move whilst also being secure.

Close caboo. It’s like a stretchy wrap, but you don’t have to tie it yourself! Absolutely swore by it with dd.

Just googled both suggestions and they are similar to what I have. I struggle with thr neck support my baby fussed when one side is put over the head to hold it secure so ends up with no neck support.
Ideally need a carrier I can put on and sit baby into.
It's a nct caboo

Loads of people love the ergo baby / ergo baby 360 for something more structured than the stretchy wraps. You have to have a newborn insert, for under a certain size, but not sure what that is.

BrioLover · 20/09/2018 16:06

A connecta might be a good option for you. It's a buckle carrier and comes with a removable strap to make the seat bit narrower for very young babies (I think it's suitable from newborn actually).

dreamyflower · 20/09/2018 16:10

I swear by babybjorn- they do ergo positioning now. The only carrier that didn't break my back.

KTD27 · 20/09/2018 16:11

I’ve just hired a mamaruga zensling for my newborn from my local sling library and i LOVE it. Stretchy and soft like a wrap and uet has buckles so I can do it quickly and easily and I know she is secure. I have a close Caboo too and just didn’t get on with it I found it too variable when I put it on - sometimes it felt great othertimes not at all. Anyway my little girl really loves the zensling and it’s a tried and trusted way to get her to sleep in seconds. Perhaps visit your local library and see what they have - particularly if you already have a carrier you want to use when baby is older

Ring sling? I've always used a wrap before, but got a ring sling for this one and it's incredibly easy to put on, pop DD into.

Ergobaby aura

TheLandsWhereTheJumbliesLive · 20/09/2018 16:23

Babybjorn Mini is what I have, it's suitable from birth. I use it loads more than my ring sling actually as well!

Onceicaughtafish · 20/09/2018 16:25

Ring sling, but get someone to show you (a sling library if you have one) as there is a knack to it. Or an ergo with a newborn insert, but not sure on minimum weight.

INeedNewShoes · 20/09/2018 16:32

I didn't get on well with the Caboo either. I was never convinced that DD was safe in it as her position just didn't seem right. She was a very skinny newborn and I just wonder whether it wasn't suited to her.

If I have another baby I plan to try using my Ergobaby Adapt from the outset as the head/neck support is adjustable in a convincing way and its just so much less of a faff than the softer fabric slings.

Toastypate · 20/09/2018 16:48

There is no sling library near me.

All the carriers suggested above have minimum weight of 7-8lbs

I have a baby bjorn which I love but dc just too small for it.

Just tried the sling I have again and she just screamed and butted her head. There is just no support.

I have a 19 month old so having a newborn who won't go down is hard going one of them is screaming all the time

Agh sorry missed that bit about baby’s weight.
Close caboo can be used from 5lb otherwise it’s a ring sling or stretchy wrap

Toastypate · 20/09/2018 20:12

The caboo close is like the one I have it's just called caboo but doesn't feel comfortable to wear and doesn't support dc neck or head

My son was 5.7lb and I couldn't find anything suitable.

Started using ergobaby with the newborn insert when he was around 8-9lb,

Toastypate · 20/09/2018 23:03

I have a baby bjorn which can be used from 8lbs but at the rate my baby is gaining weight could be another 4+weeks

With the wrap you can roll up a muslin into the outer layer to create a neck support

This is a really good guide.
