TERRIBLE teething!!

DS is teething so badly that he hasn't eaten in 3 days now, or at least I can count what he's eaten on one hand. He is drinking milk (oat milk) but only from a bottle. His mouth is so sore that he won't let anything near it. It looks like he's getting a few teeth at once. We are using calpol and ibruprophen (when hes willing to let you mear his mouth with a syringe), teething powders and bongella; anything else we can try?? He won't suck on a cold cloth or put any chew toys in his mouth :( he finally slept last night so I thought it was getting better but he's worse than ever about food this morning; its so sad to see him like this!

No advice but I'm a first time mum and my little boy is also teething... we have gone from sleeping through to waking up every hour for the past 2 nights. Hope it gets better soon for you fellow mummy xx

Cold yoghurt or ice cream may help. My 16 month old is really off her food with teething but keeping on top of giving painkiller and Ashton and parsons powders and chamomile tincture seem to be best help for her crying with it. The good thing is keeping fluid intake up. I'm not sure about oat-milk but I do know high-fat milk or alternatives are best when food intake low...is the oatmilk as high fat as soya milk? Could you try soya yoghurt as well maybe? Alternatively make a smoothie say with banana, oat milk, ground almonds. Could be frozen too. Hope these ideas help. Oh, mine also wears an amber necklace for teething - hard to quantify if it helps but anything is worth a try!

Anbesol. I think you might have to go to a pharmacy for it but it's much better than the gels or powders.

Also, any temperature or other symptoms? Sometimes ear infections can present in a similar way to teething.

@teachuptattoo sadly he is allergic to both soy and dairy. His diet is a struggle at the best of times and this is just crazy!

I 2nd the suggestion of anbesol - its a liquid so doesn't slide off like gels or powders and has an aesthetic quality - instant effect of numbing the area. Also trying gently rubbing around and under their earlobes into the edge of the jaw (if he will let you get close!) - when the teeth rise they can press or the nerve that run through the jaw into the ear. DD always found that soothing when teething
