Can I please ask anyone at all for advise on how to relive gas and colic in my 9week old.
He cry's so much it's heart breaking!!
He's breast fed and Iv cut down dairy and vegetables that would make him worse and still no luck.
I'm running on 3-4 hours a night!!

Tried gripe water ect too....

Baby massage worked for my gassy DD. Clockwise circles round belly button or a rainbow shape from l to r. Has to be clockwise to follow the direction of the colon.

If you suspect cow milk allergy then you have to cut dairy completely for at least 3 weeks to see any effect.

Good luck!

Baby massage helped here too..... as well as a nice warm bath. The bath relaxes their tummy muscles. I also had the tiger in the tree winding method recommended to me.
There are various videos on YouTube showing you different techniques. Hop things improve soon xx

Baby massage helped me too, along with dentinox, infacol, gripe water, bicycle legs and also lying my DS on his side with his leg up for short periods. It was absolute hell, his screams were awful.

It cleared up about when he was about 16 weeks old, but he still gets trapped wind on occasion and it brings all the memories back 😬

Baby on back, nappy off with feet towards you. Hold legs together under the knees, then push legs up towards shoulders. This used to work wonders with ds.

@pinkcarpet @HelenMummyof2 @jaynelovesagathachristie @Iwantaunicorn @ifoundthebread

Thank you all..... Have just been looking for more videos and have tried the tummy massage after the bath... he hasn't passed wind... just fell asleep! Which hopefully relaxes him enough to pass it on the next few hours!

Have been looking online too for more natural colic drops to see if maybe they will help.
Don't have hardly any dairy as it is... just 2 cups of tea a day (cold usually 😂)
I drink lots of water and stay away from foods that might pass through my milk to him.

After 6 hours sleep in the last 2 days.... I will continue all your advice and try the bicycle legs when he wakes up...... probably in around an hour 😩😩😩💤

Thank you all 👍🏼

How is he now @poppy1989?

With dairy, my DD is allergic to the cow milk protein so even a tiny bit affects her. I went dairy free for a month then in a moment of sleep deprivation put butter on my toast but realised after 3 bites. Even that tiny amount was enough to upset her again. Plus there's milk in loads of stuff like bread and biscuits so you have to read ingredients lists all the time to cut it completely. But only around 5% of babies are affected by cow milk so hopefully its not that for you

Poppy1989 · 17/09/2018 11:26

@pinkcarpet
(Yawn) It took until 8am for him to pass wind and a very dirty nappy too! (Has been awake and unsettled since 3am)
I think the massage helped a lot!

I'm going to try and cut out dairy for a few weeks and see if it makes a difference to him. I would honestly try anything, I have such Mum guilt when I can't help him!
I also read that a slightly warm bag of rice or hot water bottle on his tummy can help too!
So each night I will try something else and hope that I can find something that works for him! Xx

Unfortunately it was the same as with pinkcarpet for me - dairy - my DD has CMPA. What did work for gas was warm baths, cycling motion for up to 15 minutes (I'd talk about all the places we'd cycle to in the coming week for things I had planned and keep a relaxed tone of voice), also soft clockwise massage on the tummy. Babycenter had a few good videos for baby massage with little rhymes that my DD still loves to this day.

stiltonontoast · 17/09/2018 15:25

My DS was the same when he was really little - I think some babies are just prone to it. We tried everything too, the only thing that really helped were these little whistles you can buy on amazon called "windi's" sounds strange but they are used to help relieve gas. We only ever used them as a last resort because its generally good for them to learn to deal with wind / pooping on their own but when its 3am and your baby has been screaming for hours - they came in handy!

PlinkPlink · 17/09/2018 15:43

We had this. It was a nightmare. Emotionally draining for everyone.

We tried infacol, we tried dentinox, we tried massage, we tried avoiding feeding at certain times, we tried feeding more... ugh... god, the memories.

Anyhoot, nothing worked for us until we tried COLIEF. All hail the colief.

You can do it with breastfeeding too. I had to express a bit in a bottle, add the drops and then feed that to LO. Then he'd continue feeding on the boob. It worked so well.

Sengah · 17/09/2018 19:41

Could it be milk supply related - this article is interesting about how positioning can help: www.emmapickettbreastfeedingsupport.com/twitter-and-blog/youve-got-so-much-milk-youre-so-lucky-no-im-bloody-not-oversupply-colic-and-reflux

Sengah · 17/09/2018 19:42

Don't feel guilty, you are doing a great job!

NowApparently · 17/09/2018 21:41

Has your son been checked for tongue tie? It can play havoc with colic due to not being able to form a full seal so taking in air on feeds too.

My daughter had a lot of wind issues which turned out to be food allergies but had an undiagnosed tongue tie until she was 19 weeks old when we managed to get an appointment with the tongue tie clinic who diagnosed and snipped it then and there.

Dencar · 18/09/2018 01:23

As already suggested - check for tongue tie, consider seeing a CranioSacral Oesteopath, start baby on infant probiotics. The one I highly recommend is Bio Giai.

sadsallynomates · 18/09/2018 12:27

Glad to hear baby is better now. For a natural 'gripe water' effect. Slice a raw onion into a cup, pour boiling hot water into cup, allow to cool. Using a 'pipette' or syringe, put a few drops of cooled onion water into baby's mouth. Works a treat.
