Hipp Organic for Silent Reflux? What's the logic?

I've seen lots on the internet about successes following switching to hipp and resulting in improvements in reflux. Why? What makes it improve?

DS had full on sicky reflux, only improved by being on ranitidine at 4.5mo. I did a lot of reading up at the time so I know it's a physical condition due to an underdeveloped digestive system and they need to grow out of it. By 7mo he was v rarely sick anymore.

I now have DD, she's 3mo. She's suffering from silent reflux which is currently managed with Gaviscon. It's not that bad in fairness and mainly manifests in her being extremely unsettled, and an odd gasping occasionally which doesn't seem to cause her any distress but obviously worries me! I tried taking her off it last week but she doesn't seem ready yet.

Anyway, I wondered about switching her milk as I haven't tried that yet. However I'm not sure if it's worth bothering as I can't see how it would actually help. Any ideas on why it should hypothetically work? Any success stories?

You might still need something to keep the milk down, I'm not convinced hipp particularly helps with reflux I think it more helps with wind personally. The meds take a couple of days but won't stop the sickness, just any discomfort x

I didn’t realise hip was supposed to help with reflux etc. But when switching from b milk to formula about 7/8 months I tried hoop and found baby was a lot less sicky. Formula really didn’t agree with him. Initially we mixed with b milk and now he has it on his own- no sick at all.

What I have noticed is that all other formula has soya lecithin in and Hipp doesn’t- could this make a difference?

@rubyroot I've never compared ingredients, that's interesting! Googling it doesn't imply anything...I think hipp helps because it dissolves better and therefore ends up less bubbly as no shaking required, also perhaps because it seems easier to digest so perhaps doesn't hang around in the stomach as long.

I'm too nervous to stop the Gaviscon entirely seeing as DDs sleep is getting progressively worse as it is! But she certainly seems fine on the one sachet at bedtime 😊

My DS had mild silent reflux, we had no luck with the GP so tried a few different milks to manage it, found Hipp organic really disagreed with him - its so thin!

We only had success with thicker milks and the one he's always got on best with is SMA anti reflux.
