Multivitamins

Evening all!
Son is 8 months old with cmpa and severe reflux (GERD). I struggle to get the recommended 20 ounces milk in him so today started him on the WellBaby Multivitamins, the one with 14 vitamins and minerals.
Im sat here getting him off to sleep thinking Am I doing the right thing? What happens if he’s getting too much of something? He has three bottles a day with 2 ounces milk in his breakfast and an ounce in mashed potato at lunch or tea. He’s on three meals a day made up of 3 cubes of veg and sometimes some chicken and/or pasta, twice a week he will have tuna too. Pudding is normally some banana or pear or koko/alpro yoghurt.
Thank you for your advice Flowers

Just in case anyone mentions them, I asked his feeding nurse when first diagnosed about probiotics but she said not to bother. At his last appointment I mentioned them again and she said I’d ‘missed the boat now’. Honestly she contradicts herself so much. I’m not due to see her for another month and she’s difficult to get hold of so thought I’d ask Mumsnet experts about the multivitamins Smile

Hi OP I can't help you I'm afraid but bumping in case someone else can.

It's advised to supplement vitamins A, C and D anyway. I'm sure there will be nothing that will do harm in vitamins that are designed specifically for babies

Thank you both very much Smile had a chat with my mum and she said he will just wee out anything extra not needed. But she then also said that she doesn’t think he needs any vitamins Hmm

He’s allergic to the multivitamins so I guess there’s my answer, I won’t be giving them to him again! There’s no milk in them. He had a red mark on his chin and lip after hem last night and I wasn’t sure if he’d scraped his face as he’d been playing with a spoon. Just given them to him now and it’s come up again immediately. Piriton to the rescue!

Oh gosh poor you and him OP. I'd say if you're giving him a well rounded diet with his milk too then he probably won't need much else, bar the vit d that is recommended. However I am no expert so definitely ask your HV/GP who can advise you better hopefully!

I’ll get him in at the doctors tomorrow and speak to them. Last time he had a reaction I took him in and was told to bring him back with photos if he has another reaction and they may refer him for allergy testing. Had to take him to hospital last time but this reaction is nowhere near as bad. Never did work out what he was allergic to, he’d had alpro unsweetened plain yoghurt but he’s fine with alpro vanilla yoghurt.
