And what did they do prior to dropping it?

About 1 and half. Just didn't go for it one day and it never came back. She's now 5

Fooferella · 14/09/2018 19:49

2 😭

autumn18 · 14/09/2018 20:01

😱 ds is currently 18 months. He can survive on 40 mins but I usually give him 1.5hours. Dread the day that he drops it!

I take it they were sleeping through the night?

Still napping for up to 2.5 hours a day at 21 months.

Long may it continue...

Thesnobbymiddleclassone · 14/09/2018 20:10

@autumn18 yes she was. I was extremely lucky to get a rare baby that slept through early so that may have been a contributing factor.

ShowOfHands · 14/09/2018 20:13

DD was 12 months

DS was 24 months

Neither was sleeping through the night.

twinkletoedelephant · 14/09/2018 20:14

DD was hour up until until she was 3...

The twins, the day after their first birthday, think someone spiked the cake

RandomMess · 14/09/2018 20:16

Mine were all different, all slept through the night.

2, nearly 4, 2.5, nearly 2.

BingerGeer · 14/09/2018 20:16

Dd1 was 4.2 and only stopped because she went to school. Dd2 was about 3, but wound down gradually. She usually napped after preschool because that was tiring, but then even that tailed off.

SoyDora · 14/09/2018 20:18

19-20 months for both. DD2 was sleeping through the night, DD1 most definitely wasn’t (didn’t sleep through until 3.5).

SoyDora · 14/09/2018 20:19

To be honest though it didn’t really bother me. It made day trips etc easier.

FATEdestiny · 14/09/2018 20:19

My DD has her 4th birthday latter this month. She naps 1.5h most days.

She can go without a nap if I need her to, if we're busy. She can manage with 5 nap data in 7 but is quite happy with all 7 nap data in a week.

She is my fourt child. My others dropped naps around:

DC1: 3 1/2 years
DC2: 3 years
DC3: 4 1/2 years

In all cases it starts with a day here or there with no nap, but with normal nap on the other days. Once night time sleep starts changing for the worse, then I start changing lunchtime nap for sofa "rest time".

We often have a good year whereby child doesn't actually go to bed at lunchtime, but still sometimes falls asleep on the sofa (and sometimes doesn't).

InDubiousBattle · 14/09/2018 20:21

Ds was 4. Up until then he would have 2 hours in the afternoon. We got him out of the habit when he turned 4 ready for school. Dd is 3.2 and will nap maybe once every other week but gave up having one every day at around 2.5 when ds gave his up (19 month gap).

autumn18 · 14/09/2018 20:25

Perhaps I should've asked waking and bedtime too

DS was 11 months, was sleeping through. However if he as much closed his eyes for a minute after this he wouldn't go down at night. DD was only awake for a couple of hours a day, loved sleep, she's now 20 & if she could I think she would still nap in the day!

SoyDora · 14/09/2018 20:26

DD2 slept 7-7 when she dropped her nap. DD2 slept 7-7 with approx 4 wake ups when she dropped hers!

Ballyhoobird · 14/09/2018 20:27

Dropped dd1 nap around 3rd birthday at the request of dh as she was (apparently) struggling to go to sleep at bedtime. I think she still needed them. Dd2 dropped hers around 2 - just wouldn't go down any more and it did make her a (bit) easier to settle in the evening. She often still naps at nursery though (now 3). Her big sis (now almost 6) still needs more sleep than her generally.
