I can't warm my 4-month-old's feet...

Okay, this is an odd one, and please don't laugh, but I thought I'd ask... I'm the hypochondriac to end all hypochondriacs!

So, my 4-month-old has had permanently cold feet for the last couple of days. It doesn't seem to matter how many pairs of socks I put on him, or whether he's wrapped in a blanket, they still remain cold.

Any explanations? He seems fine in himself, his body temperature is normal, and the reaction in his feet is still normal too. It's so strange.

My DS was just the same, I remember piling on the socks but couldn’t warm them up! Once they’re cold they’re a nightmare to get warm so I would try and keep on top of warm feet to prevent them getting cold..... there was nothing wrong and he’s fine now. Smile

It's totally normal for babies to have cold hands/feet. As long as their core is warm they're fine.

Agree that you can tell if they’re warm enough by putting your fingers on their chest.

Take their temp, if they're poorly hands and feet can get cold.
If their temp is ok, it's fine.

My daughter was the same. No matter of time, day or weather conditions her feet were freezing. She's 3 now and her feet match the temp of the rest of her.

One of mine was the same. His hands and feet were always freezing, especially at night. I'd get up to feed him at night, get him out of his warm room in a vest, babgro and growbag and his hands would be like blocks of ice. It used to worry me as his lips would go blue and I was worried he had a heart problem. He did have a small hole in his heart but it self corrected and didn't need treatment. He is now a healthy 12y old but still "runs cold". He wears jumpers all year round at school and a big thick hoodie at night. He's the first to complain of the cold and loves really hot baths and showers. Some people just feel the cold i think.

Thank you, everyone. This did put my mind at ease, until his temp increased dramatically and he ended up in hospital. 😭😭

He had a urine infection, and since being on antibiotics his feet have warmed up.

I don't know whether it was related, the doctor said it could have been, I just thought I'd let you all know.

Glad he's feeling better.
