why will my almost 12 month old not stop screaming?

i have changed his nappy, given him milk, tried to give him tea which he refuses to eat.

if he sits on my lap he calms down a bit, yet if i sit him next to me he starts screaming again and god forbid i leave the room - well you don't want to know. how am i supposed to do anything!!

should i just leave him to cry and hope he will shut up after a while?

stick him on the kitchen floor wiht a big mixing bowl of rice, some small plastic cups and a wooden spoon

nappyaddict · 08/06/2007 17:46

thats the thing even sat on the floor or even on a chair next to me he will cry and cry even if he's got all his toys around him.

i sat him on the work surface 5 minutes ago while i tried to make a drink. he seemed interested in the washing up rack and plastic bowls in it so i sat it and him on the floor. cue screaming once more.

oh. I was hoping that something out of hte ordinary would "shock" him into stopping! Is he hot? What about a paddling pool?

oooh now that sounds like a good idea. the only thing that shuts him up is the bath but obviously that only works if i have to clean the bathroom!

a paddling pool in my kitchen sounds like a good idea. any temporary ideas before i get one?

lol, my14 month old ds has been like this all day too. I wonder if its the weather. The thing that worked in the end was taking him to the local turkish barber's for a haircut. The sight of a strange man coming at him with shears stopped him in his tracks. And he cheered up massively at the massive balloon he got as a reward.

ds hasn't got enough hair for a hair cut

i crave for him to have surfer dude hair but at this rate he'll be 10 before we get there.

then he'll get nits

nappyaddict · 08/06/2007 18:16

my cousins have hair that is clippered every month and have had nits so i don't think length has much to do with it.

i have taken a photo of ds in his bowl. you do not want to know how wet the kitchen floor is!
