I feel really daft not being able to work this out....
How do you get kids clothes ready the night before if clothes are in their bedrooms with sleeping child?? I always do bedtime on my own as husband works late so I can't sort clothes while he reads story or similar. I'm sure there's a simple answer but it's currently eluding me....

Before they're asleep / whilst they're getting ready, or very quietly once they're sound asleep'!

How old are your DC? Could you get them to help you choose clothes for the next day before they go to bed?

I was never organised enough to do this. Always went for the mad rush in the morning option Grin

I do bedtimes on my own fairly often. I get their clothes out of their drawers during the bedtime routine at some point.. either when they’re getting undressed, putting their pyjamas on, doing a wee, faffing around... they’re 4 and 3. It only takes about a minute to get their clothes for the next day sorted.

I do it during day- or when I am getting pjs out- grab set of things, leave on top of drawers.
Did see hack the other day where when you put some away - roll a little bundle- bottoms, top, vest, socks whatever - and store them as a set.

I've never understood how this saves time. It takes less than a minute to get clothes out ready

depends how old the dc are.
School uniform and from about 5/6, they do it as part of getting ready for bed.
But generally, as they are getting undressed, and you are sorting their clothes, you put the clean ones out.

I do it but it doesn’t really save time for us to be honest (it would take the same amount of time whenever I did it!). I do it because the clothes are ready in piles downstairs and the DD’s get themselves dressed while I’m doing something else (getting myself ready, making packed lunch etc).
No quicker, just seems to make our mornings flow a bit easier.

I've never understood how this saves time.

for mine it wasn't the time getting the clothes out that was saved, it was the time spend arguing or choosing! Replacing that with - your clothes are on the chair saves loads!

But actually I rarely did it until they were school age, and the main reason I do it now is that it highlights if we are missing something, eg run out of school socks, and I can sort before morning.

Mine are now secondary and they know that if they get stuff out the night before and discover their uniform or pe kit isn't ready (because they forgot to give it to me) then I will sort it. If they discover in the morning, tough.

Ah thank you all - sounds like it is more of an option for the future rather than with a 1 yr old to wrestle with at bedtime. Thank you!
