weaning troubles - spitting out food

Hi all!

DS is 7 months and has been weaning (baby led + purees) from 5.5 months. He was doing really well - eating a fair bit and trying new things happily.

This last week he's suddenly gone completely off savoury things, will cry and spit out the food until we get him something sweet. I thought he was just being fussy and wanting sweet food but now he's started doing it with fruit and yoghurts too. He'll take the food initially but then after a few mouthfuls he just spits it straight out.

What do you reckon, teething, fussiness? Also, I have no idea what I should do - do I persist feeding him even though most of it ends up on his tray / the floor?

Is there a difference between finger foods or purée?

Yes to keep offering and don’t make a fuss if he does or does not have any.

I’d just give him the food and when he starts spitting it out, assume he’s finished and not hungry anymore and clear away Smile

I'd check for new teeth. DD would get fussy when new teeth were coming

What sweet food are you giving him? I'd be tempted to offer him savoury and if he refuses it don't offer the sweet food, I know this sounds mean but if his hungry he will eat the savoury stuff, when I spoke with my hv because dd throws most of her food on the floor she said they still have milk which is most important and that solids at this stage is more of a taste and fun if that makes sense? Hope your sorted soon I know how stressful it can be xx
