I'm going to be a first time Mum so everything is new to me!! There is so much equipment and I'm sure some are just gadgets...so trying to figure out what is a must and what is a don't bother is now becoming a stress!! I'm currently looking at changing bags....what would you ladies recommend? A backpack or shoulder bag? Is my number one question...after that I think it will come down to preference and budget!!

Any other must haves feel free to add them on in comments...

I'm in the UK btw

I just used a bog standard backpack. Nappies and wipes popped in the laptop sleeve bit at the back, everything else just popped into the main bit of the bag.
Lots of stuff they market for parents is shite and unnecessary.

I used a canvas satchel type bag. Not a baby change just one i already had. Bought a travel change mat from ikea.

Think about how it will go with your pram, does it fit in the basket? If you need to put shopping in the basket does it go over the handle? If not are you happy to constantly carry it? Also if you are thinking of using a sling how easy is it to carry with a sling?

Agree with PP you only really need a backpack that you like.

Also I would strongly recommend something like this: www.dunelm.com/product/summer-changeaway-portable-changing-kit-1000127298

I have a diono one and love it as no fiddling about fishing things out a big cavernous bag.

I have the larger of the two cats kidston shoulder bags for my DTs. It’s fab, holds everything (I’ve never managed to fill it!) and has an adjustable strap so you can sling it over the handle of the pram. You can pick them up quite reasonably on eBay.

Things I have in mine always are:

Hand sanitiser
Muslin cloths
Changing mat (super important to me, I’ve no idea how often the tables get cleaned, and handy to whip out for an impromptu change in the car!)
Sudocrem
Nappy bags
Spare change of clothes for the babies
My bag has 2x 2 bottle holders, but otherwise bottle holders if you’re ff feeding
Tube of nipple cream from when I was bf/expressing, makes great lip balm
Nappies
Dummies and a microwave steriliser/holder
Tissues
Wet wipes
Less helpfully, a selection of receipts, and my bits I need for out and about.

Whether you use a regular bag or a changing bag, I’d make sure there’s a few pockets for stashing your car keys/tampons/change etc, it’s a nightmare trying to rummage through a giant bag when it’s chucking it down with a screaming kid to find your keys!

I just have a regular canvas tote that says "baby crap" in big letters then underneath "I used to be fun". Carry a regular lunch box in it with an ice pack for bottles. My mum used to use a carrier bag. I looked at getting a fancy one but at the end of the day a bags a bag. Get one that you think is cute.

I was gifted a backpack style changing bag from my sister. I love it but it is quite big, so unless I'm going on a full on day out, I usually just chuck a couple of nappies, pack of wipes and few bags, bottle and bib/muslins in my handbag. I live away from my family so travel down to visit them every few weeks so it's great as a bag for all baby's clothes etc tho
