Sorry if there's already a weaning thread, i couldn't find it.
DD is almost 6 months old, she's been having Aptamil baby porridge but I'm going to swap her onto Weetabix. Can I put semi-skimmed milk on it or does it have to be full fat? I know when they turn 1 they should drink full fat cow's milk but does it matter if I put semi-skimmed on her breakfast as she's still having formula atm?

I always used full fat, not sure what the guidelines are for cooking sorry OP. If you’re worried about buying the full fstcand it going off, could you try sterilised milk? They sell it I need bottles in Aldi.

The Weaning Talk is here btw and you may find the MN Weaning advice useful and this guides from the Caroline Walker Trust.

Should be full fat, but it won't do any harm using so skimmed occasionally. Essentially you just don't want to dull them up with foods that aren't very calorie dense, so should always be full fat, but there's nothing inherently harmful about semi skimmed if that makes sense? Especially at 6 months when they're barely eating.

I wouldn't plan to be using semi skimmed though. If you're concerned about waste you can just freeze a pint of full fat milk in ice cube trays and defrost as needed.

Always full fat. Or put formula on it..
