How do you know when to potty train?!

My daughter turned one on the 21st of this month, and for the past month a few of her nappies have been dry in the morning, and the past few weeks every now and again when I take her nappy off before her bath she will squat and poop on the floor ? I don't know if these are signs that she is ready to be potty trained ? I'm ttc no2 as well so it would be good if she was potty trained before any potential new arrivals, so mums, how did you know ! or did you just do it ?! any tips ? x

I look for them going longer between wees, for example a fairly dry nappy for an hour then a big wee rather than lots of little dribbles. Also, do they have the ability to communicate that they need the potty? And are they capable of getting on and off the potty themselves and trying to dress themselves, pulling up their own pants and trousers? Just turned one is very young in my opinion, some parents successfully train at that age but in my experience when parents ask me to train so early it's usually a long drawn out process, with wet pants and carrying potties around on outings for months. If you get the window when they are ready (between two and three) it's much quicker and less stressful.

I wait for mine to tell me.

Ds3 (nearly 2.5) has just this week told me he wanted his nappy off to wee on potty so that’s exactly what we did.
