Anyone use a dummy just for daytime naps?

My 3 month old DD is really upset going down for naps the last few days, I've resisted the dummy but at my wit's end yesterday I popped it in and straight away she went down. My first DS got totally addicted to dummies in the night so we were up and down the whole time and so I want to avoid that. Any success stories from people who just use dummies for daytime naps? Thanks so much

I did, but I will be honest.. after baby initially accepting it he used to try and spit it out so I ended up holding it in till he slept. Started about 4 months and stopped at 5 months when I just started to put baby in cot. Give him a dummy now and he just chews it like a teether,

ok thanks but good it didn't become a crutch at night too?

Yes, maybe it depends on baby. Mine wasn’t really keen on the dummy. Try it and see, if you just use for naps, then baby may just see it as there for naps

Perhaps use it to get baby in routine of napping and then take away.

It’s what we did at five months, though because we are cruel parents we allowed baby to cry for three mins before he fell asleep for his nap.

ah not at all! Although 3 minutes can feel so long...I've done that with her and it did work last week, but then this week she has been a bit inconsolable, so I don't want her to get allergic to napping! So I think at this age I want to go a bit more gentle
