Is 17mths too young???

I always left ds until he told me he wanted no nappies which he did at 2.2yrs. DD1 is 17mths and today every time she has pooped has taken her nappy off accompanied with eww yuk. She also says wee wee but dont think it coincides with a wee as when we leave her nappyless she has not[as yet] done a wee. Surely at this age she is too young to be ready even though my mum goes on about us all being 18mths and out of nappies but think thats a grandparent thing

sounds to me like she is letting you know she may be ready, some LO's are ready at this age, some older.

oh god dont say that..I actually cant be bothered with the faff..lol
Will stick a potty in front of her and see if she uses it as a helmet or to pee on

my dd2 has been dry since the age of 18 months, and looking back, the signs were there since 16 months. It's far less faff then nappies, and far cheaper

yes, just let her use the potty at bath time or whatever. I leave one out for dd2 and no wees yet (she says "poo" at the required time or just after ) but I am not really ready to train yet (she is 19 months).

well she hates the meer sight of the potty..pmsl Although she is still stripping of and saying wee wee
