3 month old: when will the grizzling get better!

My DD had terrible colic for the first 9 weeks, then got so much better but she is still a real high maintenance baby, she gets so grumpy whether she has had sleep/fed etc. and needs a constant change of scene. A friend came over with her baby yesterday and she doesnt make a peep, so chilled! I absolutely adore my DD (although its taken a while tbh because of the colic) but its like I'm allergic to those alarm calls, they give me such bad anxiety. Does anyone else experience the same thing, and how do you deal with it? And, if you have older babies then when did you notice it getting better?

My 3 month old is the exact same! Always so grumpy. He’s a tiny bit better at the moment and sometimes goes 5 mins without moaning but it’s so exhausting.
My middle child was an absolute angel, just so content 100% of the time and I cannot remember a single time he cried (other than when he had bloods done etc).
My eldest on the other hand was worse than my youngest, oh my god was he difficult. He didn’t just cry, he screamed, all.the.time! However he turned into the most placid, laid back and lovely 1.5-2 year old you’d ever meet. An easy child even now (he’s 12). I can’t remember when he started getting better exactly but he was great from about 6 months when he was crawling and could move around for himself.

Some people are just terrible at being babies, and it won’t change until they have a bit of freedom and independence

In my experience? Around age 10. Years. Grin

I think I just need to see light at the end of the tunnel! She has really happy moments, just is really high maintenance and I'm hoping too that when she gets more mobile she gets less fussy. 10 years is a little too far for me but @FranticallyPeaceful nice to hear your fussy one turned into a chilled toddler.

My DD is 3 and a bit months old and has definitely improved in the last two weeks, smiles come easier, cooing and playing alone for A few minutes. Before this she was just grizzly and cried regularly. I too have a friend with the most placid baby and it makes you wonder what you’re doing wrong??! But actually they’re just all different aren’t they. There is light at the end of the tunnel I am sure.

I have a pretty high needs 8 month old. She’s like a much older child trapped in a baby’s body, she’s been desperate to walk for months. As PP noted I think she’s frustrated her body can’t yet do what her mind wants.

She was always the “difficult” baby in the first few months. It seemed everyone else’s babies slept peacefully in the pram with a dummy in whilst my dummy-refusing DD had a meltdown in the pram and had to be put in the sling. She has always been super alert and wants to see what’s going on.

At 6 months she was much happier in the pushchair and now seems one of the more chilled out babies among my friends. Plus she teethed early which didn’t help.

She still gets bored and grumpy now, but I think that’s true of all the other babies her age too! You can’t please them constantly I’ve found. But fortunately the grumpiness shifts from meltdowns to low level whinging as they get older.

My dd2 is three months and I'm luckily if I get ten mins between sleeping and feeding without her crying . I feel awful saying it but the crying goes right through me! Dd1 literally never cried so this is a bit of a shock to the system

My neice was a cryer and I think about 5/6 months was when she improved loads
