Letting 12m/o sleep without dinner

My 12 month old DS has been quite unsettled today. He’s usually in a really good routine, eats his dinner around 6ish then goes to bed with a bottle at 7.30 and sleeps til around 8-9ish.

Tonight though he refused all food, Was rubbing his eyes so i put him down for what I intended to be a short nap then re-try with dinner.

He still isn’t awake, i tried to wake him but he just kept going back to sleep so must be really tired, he’s only eaten a mini rice cake and a fruit pot, not even had a bottle.

Would you wake him to give him food or let him sleep for the night?? I’m really unsure what to do- trivial i know!

Leave him to sleep, if he's well fed generally a night without food won't harm and sleep is more important if he's that tired.

If he's normally a good eater but wsnts to sleep then let him sleep. Perhaps you should sleep too as this could be a sign he's getting a cold or something!

Let him sleep, as said above he could be coming down with something and may not feel like eating and just wants to rest

My DD is just turned 1 (12 months 2 weeks to be exact) and last night she threw all her dinner on the floor. Wasn't interested in anything. So I just gave her a bottle (she had about 3oz whole milk) then went to sleep. She slept 8pm til 9am, best night in ages! Babies are weird sometimes. She's been fine today. As long as he doesn't seem unsettled just let him sleep Smile

I’d let him sleep. But be prepared for him waking later feeling hungry. My DS (14mo) did this the other week, went to sleep before tea (4:30pm), woke at 11:30pm and had a bottle and then slept through til 6. Woke up with a cold.

Exactly what @Thishatisnotmine said!
Let him sleep, get yourself to bed, your baby may be awake at 3am feeling poorly.
I hope he is ok. There is a sickness bug going around. My office was struck with it last week and now my baby nephews are down with it.
Get some rest and I hope he doesn't get poorly.

Thanks for all the advice it’s put my mind at rest I thought I would be starving him unfairly! Luckily I’m at work from 6am anyway so if he is poorly in the night it’s Daddy’s job Wink

I agree, although like you I'd be in two minds... but have done this in the past and just had (unneeded) bottles of milk on standby and has slept until his usual two am waking for milk.
