How to encourage better bottle feeds

My 6 week old DD has silent reflux and has been given ranitidine which seems to be helping thank god. But because of this she's always struggled having larger feeds and going a bit longer between. Over the past couple of days she had been alternating when feeding between 2oz and 3oz (once or twice having 4oz) but what can I do to promote and encourage this more frequently? My dream is to get her on to some kind of routine which will help with sleep at night! (Oh I know this might take time yet but I want to get started on implementing something)

FTM so wondering what tricks you all have which have worked!

Thanks ❤️

She is far, far to young for a routine. Her her tummy is tiny so you can only take small amounts at a time. Which bottles are you using? Some are easier than others. The MAM anti colic ones are good.

Shes too little. Just as we sometimes eat big meals and sometimes small so do they.

Follow her lead.

6 week old on a routine? You are setting yourself up to fail !

Feed little and often

Thanks both. I think I knew that but after speaking to the other mums I work with in the past they have these crazy routined babies and I wasn't sure if I should be doing that... I'm just not sure aha! X

Thanks! Like I said I think maybe I'd be set to fail from other people I'd spoke to. Xx

She will lead you 😊 xx

You can have a routine baby, but it's probably too soon. If you try and increase the gaps between day feeds, she will take less of her calories by day. Then she will just be really hungry at night. If you feed a baby a bigger feed than they actually want, it over rides their appetite control. There is some evidence this can lead to over eating in later life. So what you are doing now, is , in fact, perfect.

Thanks. I think I definitely needed some reassurance! Especially being this tired haha x

Far far too young. Remember that parents get competitive and those with early routines may not be giving the full picture!
Don't think about it until at least 12 weeks.
