HELP!! 3 week old rolled off my lap

HELP!
I was giving my 3 week old infacol and as he was fidgeting I sat cross legged on the floor and laid him across my lap so I could use one hand to hold his head steady and one hand to squirt the stuff in his mouth.
When I had given him the infacol I reached for his dummy and he rolled off my lap landing face first on the (carpeted) floor. - maybe 5/7 inches
I tried to grab him as it was happening but couldn't.
He cried and screamed for a minute or so (so did i) then calmed down and had a bottle.
He seems ok but I have really bad OCD and anxiety so I'm really worried i have given him brain damage or something!

Please please can someone reassure me that he will be ok?

Thank you

Don't worry, he will be absolutely fine - babies are actually quite resilient! As long as he cried rather than going silent, he'll be ok assuming you don't notice any unusual behaviour (not feeding, excessive sleeping for example). If you do notice anything odd, call NHS Direct who will be able to either reassure you or get help.

Everyone I know has done similar, don't worry! Flowers

He cried and now he’s drinking his milk. He’ll be fine. Keep an eye on him fur a couple of days; if he becomes listless or difficult to wake, then go to a&e, but if he carries on eating, sleeping and crying as usual, don’t worry.

Hope you have recovered now OP, it's an awful shock. I'm sure he's fine now?

My 6 month old rolled off my bed as I turned my back for 10 seconds, hated myself for it but he cried and was fine.
If he seems ok I'm sure he will be ok. Don't worry these things happened.

Thank you everyone.
He seems fine now.
I felt terrible and didn't want to pick him up anymore incase I dropped him or something. He's been fine today tho.
Thanks. Really needed some reassurance. :)

He will be fine. As long as you don’t drop them from a height they will be fine. No doubt at some point they’ll fall from a bed or a sofa too, and you’ll feel awful- but they’ll be FIIIINE

My 8 month old rolled off the bed last week, I swear I looked away for a second!

DH was away, I rang him in floods of tears professing my guilt as the worst mum in the world! He calmed me down but I'm surprised he understood anything I said between the tears and snot! Lol!

DC was/is absolutely fine btw!

Awww when I read this I assumed you were sat further up than the floor!

Nice to hear that mums are human.

We all make mistakes Cake
