Swim Nappies

Hello all

Does anyone have any tips for swim nappies? My son is big for his age and the size 5-6 swim nappies are already a little snug and there doesnt appear to be any more. I have heard about the reusable ones but unclear if you need a liner in them or not!? And which are the best ones?

Thanks

Waterbabies recommend a particular swimming trunk that is tight and a nappy. I cant remember what it's called...ill look.

A happy nappy. They are excellent. I put a nappy on underneath too.

Yes, you need a swim nappy under a Happy Nappy. Every pool I ever took my babies swimming in required 2 layers of defence! ie: swim nappy and trunks; swim nappy and happy nappy; happy nappy and trunks or similar. Many specified the Huggies swim nappies. My very big for his age DS mansgef fine in them until he was 3.

I have a massive 2 year old (99th centile) and he still fits in the huggies ones fine and will do for a while I think. They are quite stretchy.

We have one of these under the happy nappy

I realised it was such a waste to be throwing disposable swim nappies away every week.
LO has always veered more towards constipation.
We have never had any swim poos never mind any leaks

Foodylicious · 20/08/2018 13:14

If a swim poo was more likely I would probably pop a liner in there too

FurryGiraffe · 20/08/2018 13:19

I just use a pair of pants under a happy nappy. Neither DS has ever pooed in the pool anyway. Disposable swimming nappies seem very wasteful to me.

Not answering the question but just to say you can dry out disposable swim nappies and reuse them. Obviously not if they have been pooed in.

We've always used a combo of Huggies Little Swimmers and a Happy Nappy. DD is just turned 3, and the 5-6 Little Swimmers are very snug, but still do a job as we learned while on holiday two weeks ago and there does seem to be plenty of stretch. She has been late to toilet train, but I wouldn't trust her in the pool without a Huggies nappy for a while yet, just for everyone's confidence!

About 18 months ago, DD went through a phase of not liking swimming. During that phase, she did a poo during 10 out of 12 lessons we did. The Huggies/Happy Nappy combo contained every single one.

We did this for a while Orangedaisy
Used each one 2-3 times

Thank you everyone for your replies. I will look into a happy nappy!
