Hi all,

Can anyone please recommend some fun activities for a 1 year old who's not yet walking that will wear her out?

We have tonnes of toys which have been bought for us but she gets bored of them easily, we do colouring with crayons (learning), singing etc... preferably inside games? We go out swimming etc but just for days when it's miserable outside and we're staying in

She loves the sand and water pits at nursery but we don't have outside space nice enough for them outside (and I definitely don't want that level of mess inside😂)

Thank you! Xx

Treasure box? Just get a load of household items of different textures & chuck them in a cardboard box - hairbrush, leaves, kitchen utensils, balls, small bottles filled with water, glitter etc...

Do you ever feed her Ella's pouches? My DD loves playing in the 'food pouch draw' 😂

Pop her in the bath & try the flour/baby oil sand? I think it's 8 cups sand 1 cup baby oil, really soft & will wash away easily after... (sand & water like she enjoys)

My DD is 14 months so I know it can be tough to kept them interested in anything for to long. I find my DD is quite happy playing with anything if I'm doing it with her, but not so much playing solo... I try to play as much as possible then give her something interesting for the time I need to clean, cook sit staring at my phone for 5 minutes

Grin

Good luck!

Also, if you don't have it there's an app called HOOP which is great. It tells you everything that's going on in your area for babies (lots of great baby groups for rainy days) I usually take DD from about 9am-11 then come home & she's knackered & will nap 11-2. Then she'll eat, then the day is not far off done!

Had a lovely afternoon today just from piling all the cushions on the floor, some together like the sides of a triangle so she could crawl under them, toddler table with blanket over the top as a den.

Climbing up and down the stairs is a winner here....

If you have wooden blocks try wrapping in foil, coloured paper, wrapping paper and get her to build amd/or unwrap them.
If you don't mind paint get a big roll of paper (or the back of wrapping paper works really well) and dip cups or cardboard tubes into paint and let her print on the paper.
Edible paint? Can use yogurt or vanilla ice cream with food colouring or pureed fruit let her paint on a plate or tray then can eat it too!
Baths aren't just for bath time too! Water play in bath even if they wear a swimming costume! Use different toys not just bath toys - silicone cupcake cases and a plastic spoon work well with bubbles! Or Fill a rubber glove with water, tie it up and put pin prick holes in finger tips she will love squeezing the water out its like milking a cow!
Also a favourite of mine is sensory hands (gloves) you can buy a box of disposable gloves, fill them with different materials ect and tie at the end and you have sensory hands! Things I've used are: pasta, rice, glue, pebbles. Straws, sticks, pom poms, coffee granules, buttons. You could really use anything tbh
