My baby a late developer?

Hi all,
My baby is just under 8 months old, and I know, I shouldn’t be comparing! But as a ftm I do worry about these things, my son isn’t doing much of what I have seen & know other infants of his age to do. He doesn’t crawl, or even attempt to. He’s just about sitting up, but not for long and often falls back if he hasn’t got any support, so definitely no bum shuffling. He doesn’t make any talking like sounds, he doesn’t even babble yet, he just makes screaming sounds sometimes, and if he does laugh it takes me a long, long time to achieve! He does seem to moan a lot though, and is very attached to me, he cries everytime I put him down. He doesn’t sleep well at all, he still has 3 bottles during the night, sometimes 4. He also doesn’t try to stand up any furniture if prompted or doesn’t try to pull himself up anything. When he is in his high chair I have to keep sitting him back up because he just slouches. He can roll over, but he definitely can’t pull himself up to sit up himself or anything like that. Also, just to add, he is absolutely perfect to me, he is such a cutie and I love him so much he is such a mummies boy, but I am writing this as I am generally worried about his development, as I really don’t know if this is normal for his age, and I don’t want to ask family or friends as it seems as if I’m putting my baby down, but I really am not, I think he’s lovely, just looking for some advice or own experiences

Perfectly normal babies develop at very different rates but even if you know that it's really hard not to worry or compare your baby to others who can do all sorts of wonderful things.

DD didn't sit up or roll properly until a good seven months. Started crawling at ten months and only started pulling up at about 12 months. And that's not even very unusual. She's now almost 18 months and runs around the park very happily.

I'd say if you're worried talk to your GP or paediatrician, but it sounds like you're within the normal range.

All will be well.

My ds was only just sitting up at 8 months too and has been slower than most in progressing - didn't crawl until 12 months and only just walking properly at 19 months I worry constantly but he's still in the range for doing things so try not to worry. Easier said than done though!

My dd2 didn't start crawling until 11 months and still isn't properly pulling herself up at 13 months. They honestly do all develop in their own time. You should have a review with a health visitor soon, ours was at 9 months, and they will reassure you that your ds is doing perfectly well.
It's really hard with your first not to compare but try not to worry

Mine didn't crawl til 11 mo or pull up to standing til after he was 1.

Night waking is totally normal

Separation anxiety is common and my DS was a whinger until he could move about too.

But as PP say, if concerned, speak to GP

I would speak to your gp or health visitor if you are concerned.
Every baby is different and people get hung up on complaining but also you don't ever imagine that the explanation for things like that will be something worrying and that's how things are missed.
It's worth checking out

My ds pulled himself up to sitting at 8.5 months, crawled at 9.5 months and was walking running at 10 months. Wasn't babbling until over a year.
