How much do you need to isolate 10 month old who is unwell

My DS has diarrhoea. 10 months old, started today but he's been off food for a couple of days and frankly I've been feeling dodgy too.

He has a few playdates this week- assuming it's bad form to go? They're various dates- one is close contact with a similar age friend (so perhaps not!) one is with a much younger baby he wouldn't even touch and one is with nct group hanging out on a picnic blanket.

Cancel all or just take sensible precautions?? What's the etiquette?!

Please don’t take him. You don’t know if there is anyone at home with suppressed immunity.

Keep him at home for a couple of days and give him time to recover. I can understand you wanting to see your friends but there will be other days Smile

I’d be pretty unimpressed if you brought a baby with a tummy bug round for a play date I’m afraid, especially if you were feeling dodgy too (and therefore it’s contagious). Walks in the pram etc instead if you want to get out?

I’d wait 48 hours after the last bout of diarrhoea.

Schools normally have a 48 hour policy so you would be ok to go once he is clear of symptoms (diarrhoea) for 48 hours

48 hours after last bought . You will be hugely unpopular if you give people upset stomachs ! And like pp said you don't know who may have compromised immune systems.

48 hr rule applies and he must be clear of D&V for 48 hrs - the baby is actually the worst one - nothing more annoying than a small baby contracting D&V they dehydrate so quickly and end up in hospital and then infection spreads further. Just stay home for a few days

Definite don’t take him anywhere near the baby. He doesn’t have to touch the baby to make it ill, the bugs that cause some stomach upsets can live for ages outside the body so he just needs to dribble on their stuff or put it in his mouth or put dribbly hands on it and the mum of baby picking it up could get infected - stomach bugs are the only time my bathroom and the door handles all over the house get a really through bleach!
Basically obey the 48 hour rule.
