green poo...!sorry if tmi

...green,a bit squirty and kind of stringy...alarmingly coming out of dd's bum ...she's 3 months old, had her jabs last thursday, but was normal yellowy poo all last week..I'm breastfeeding her with a bottle of formula at night, wich we've been doing for over a month, and not a green poo in sight. I haven't changed my diet or eaten anything in the past 24 hours that i ahven't eaten a million times before... DD seems absolutely fine, I'm a bit concerned but would feel a bit daft getting in touch with health visitor or doctor...any advice?? thanks x

It just means that it's shot through a bit fast Noodle. Highly unlikely to be anything to worry about if DD is well.

Green could me she has had a lot of foremilk, is she snacking a lot? It's hot here and DS2 is in a snacking mood so taking more foremilk, am expecting green nappies soon!

yes she seems to have been eating little and (very) often so maybe isn't getting a full feed? although the weather's been so hot, i didn't want her to dehydrate...can't seem to get my head round breastfeeding this time

mamanoodle, she will let you know if she isn't getting enough so don't worry about that. What's been the strugle with the bf this time?

My dd who's breastfed used to have green poo occasionally (now 6 months and on some solids). It never seemed to bother her and I couldn't put it down to anything either. She has also had stringy mucusy (sp?) poo. It generally went back to normal within 24 hours. So don't know if it's a problem but it never was for my dd and I guess not completely abnormal.

Thanks ladies am feeling a lot happier about green stringy poos

snugglebumnappies - the prob with the bf - ds could strip a boob in about 10 minutes by the age of about 3 months - am pretty confident by dd's weight that she's getting enough but she never never never ever comes off the boob ever ever never never (she suckled for over 2 hours once, when I thought hmmm lets just see...) So i tend to give her about 20 minutes each side (whilst ds wrecks the joint) then take her off cos she's a mouth like a staple gun...she'll sit and suckle for ever. Also demanding feeding in the evening about every hour (6.00pm, 7.30 pm, 8.30 then if we manage to hold her off, a bottle at 9.30), but a lot of it MUST be comfort - if anyting am overfeeding her, and, yes feeding her to sleep and everything the hv's tell you not to do......just doing what I can to get by...with ds, the first 2 and a half years were the worst.....

My ds is 3 months and a snacky feeder, he has green poo often, and it is not just a bit green it is luminous sometimes. I like the expression 'mouth like a staple gun' it applies to my ds as well!

My DD also BF also had green poo. Quite runny, stinky with stringy bits in. But she was fine, well, alert, no fever, gaining weight well. After a couple of weeks went back to yellow less smelly poo.
