Silly talk and farty armpits (!) from 8 y/o son : sexy willy, etc

Please advise. My son sprouts gibberish and silly stuff quite regularly: sexy-willy/poohy-bot/smelly bot. It is not directed at anyone in particular - he just sprouts it a lot of the time because it amuses him. He also habitually making farting noises under his armpits! He only does it around people he knows. He says that many of his friends do this stuff too. Its getting really tedious, esp over half term. This stuff started since he went into year 3.

It has got to the point where it is really annoying and tedious especially if I am trying to settle him to read, sleep, wash, get out, go to bed, homework, etc! It takes a while to settle him to do any sensible thing. I see it as an annoying rather than seriously unacceptable so I'm stumped about how to apply the appropriate disipline that fits the behaviour without it being too harsh. But is is affecting home study because it wears me down. I give him warnings and then small sanctions/time out but these don't work anymore, he is too cheeky and irrepressable now. Any advice please.

Anus is latin for grandmother. Imagine the mirth when I found this out aged 8!

Grown up men find farting funny, so I cant imagine how you ever intend to stop a kid making fart noises.

Teach him there's a time and a place, but it will take a couple of decades/marriages before he'll work it out!
