Not sure if I'm doing the right thing - returning to work

I'm on maternity leave atm, originally I told work I'd return after 9 months, when my stat maternity pay ran out, that would be 22nd October.

After looking at finances, best option for us would be if I worked part-time, my partner worked full time and then I could be at home with my baby for 3 days a week, he'd have 1 day in nursery and 1 day with my mother in law.

Finances would be tight but doable (if I stayed at home full time we'd be living on a lot of benefits and slightly worse off. If I worked full time we'd be the worst off - with most of my income going on childcare ) although obviously have to factor transport and parking in.

My bosses agreed I could return part-time and that they would hire someone else for the other 2 days of my job (its 4 days a week full time) however ONLY if I could return early - on 10th September. Reluctantly, I agreed - trying to think of the long term.

Now they've sent me through my contract and it has this weird clause in it -
Trial Period – trial period of one month, starting 10/09/2018 ending 10/10/2018 for both part-time employees. If we feel two members of staff is not working and simply is not suitable for the needs of the clinic we will terminate the employment and seek one member of staff only to cover all 4 days per week. Employees need to establish good communication skills to manage/liaise tasks that may not have been completed on their
day of work. If too many mistakes are made –i.e failing/forgetting to return calls, emails or book patients in—we will terminate employment of both members of staff.

Part of me thinks maybe they are just going to get rid of me at the end of the trial no matter what. Am I better off cancelling my return, getting my extra month of maternity pay and looking elsewhere?
