Bambino Mio SCABS!

I was given a set of Bambino Mio nappies, and was all keen to try them. Have used them a handful of times, and we're having a problem with the wrap rubbing the front of DD's leg. It's left a really nasty scabby graze, looks almost like a burn. Tried the next size up but still have a rubbing problem. Seems to be the velcro tab that causes the problem.

So, anyone seen similar? Any advice?

Bambino Mio are a nightmare. Very few people get on well with them.

Nappyzone is right - best best course of action is either different wraps - motherease rikki are about the most reliable to prefolds, or either sell them or keep them and use them to booste other nappies.

If you want to email bumfluffnappies at gmail dot com I'm more than happy to talk you through the various options.

Thanks, sounds like they're beyond redemption then

I was warned that they weren't the best. I shall ponder my next move.

Keep the prefolds and ditch the wraps. My DD is really sensitive to that plasticy stuff on the inside of most wraps--the nature babies ones are the worst. We like Bummis Super Whisper Wraps since they have fabric on the inside and outside. Motherease are ok but will irritate her if left on too long.

Prefolds are really useful though! You can use them to stuff pocket nappies, in almost any kind of wrap, pinned or nippa'd on without a wrap... And they wash well and dry quickly. They're also good for burp cloths and for drying bottoms after a nappy change.

As others have said, you could try pockets (Fuzzi Bunz and Nature Babies would both work with prefolds and as they are fleece lined they don't tend to rub) or experiement with a fleece wrap - not water proof but water resistant and so much softer.

Motherease Rikki, Cotton Bottoms and Proraps will all work with prefolds (and the first two will fit over shaped as well) - if you check out the CB website, they have been doing some very cheap deals on wraps and stuff at the mo -

I think it's now www.tommeetippee.co.uk and then maybe pick up one or two shaped just to try - there seem to be two basic shaped the Motherease type which is onesize and wide in the crotch (incl. Popolini and Onelife) and the Tots Bots type which is narrower in the crotch and higher cut (incl. Bumbles, Bambineo, Clwt Twt, Little Lamb).

I agree it is definitely about finding the right nappy and wrap for your DD....

I used a diaperap on DS when he was a baby and thought it was lovely and soft (but I only had that odd one in my stash).

I used Motherease wraps for 18 months quite happily (obviously in different sizes), but as DS got bigger the binding on the them started to rub him around the thighs; and so recently I have switched him to Nature Babies wraps which seems to have stopped the problem.

I've used Bambino Mio nappies since DS was newborn (he is 15 months now) and have found them very easy to use. I do find that I have to use the wrap one size bigger than they recommend for his weight. The velcro has rubbed a couple of times but I find that to avoid this you can slide your finger under the velcro flap into the corner at the same time as you attach the velcro tabs to it you get a better fit.

Interesting to hear about the other wraps to use with prefolds - I might try the others as DS will need the next size up soon.
