Scared of her poo! Any ideas?

DD is just coming up to 2 and a half and is getting used to the potty, sitting on it quite a bit & even had a couple of wees yesterday.
The thing is, she knows when she's about to poo, she tells me, she asks for the potty and then sits down...but as soon as the poo starts to come out she looks between her legs, sees it and starts to absolutly panic.
Generally this results in her crying, running away and pooing somewhere on the floor. I've tried everything I can to reassure her that poos are fine, we all do them, I show her her little brother's nappies and her own nappies with poo in and she seems ok. It's just when she's about to go that she panics. She gets very upset when she goes in her nappy but even more upset when she's on the potty. Not sure how you work around this? Do others have little ones who react this way??

I'm not trying to force the potty issue as she's only just really seemed ready and I don't want to make her hold poos in and then get constipated but not quite sure where to go from here!!

It is rather normal this fear .. think of it .. she considers it part of her body and its coming out and she's never seen it come out before because its been held close to her.

I found with my children that if they understood what was going on they seemed ok about it .. and with a friend's child.

I have a child's science book (might be one of the 'wonder why') that shows the digestive system and I also used to tell them along the lines of when we eat food it goes into our stomachs and then it passes down our intestines where we take all the goodness out that helps us play and run and do things and what's left we get rid of as poo

I also have a toy called Gus (had it before children .. long story) .. its a big toy with a big mouth and you can pull its insides out .. they're all fabric and stuffed .. he has liver and kidneys and heart and lungs and my favourite is the stomach-intestine-rectum
