When to introduce new flavours etc

So I'm wondering when to start introducing more flavours for my baby's snacking in between his main feeds... and also what flavours are baby safe without being just the standard pea/carrot puffs that you find everywhere?

Whenever you like and see if he likes them. You haven't mentioned his age, but you could try bananas, sliced kiwi fruit, raspberries, strawberries (if he hasn't got teeth yet, puree the stuff.

Scrambled or poached egg, Pom Bear crisps, Baby Bel cheese.

Just give whatever you eat - but no honey or whole nuts before 12 months and cut up grapes and tomatoes lengthways.

He is just over 1 years old, I have done all of the sliced fruit and veg and started to introduce him to the dinners I have but mashed a little obviously... I'm talking more in the way of snacks for on-the-go, would you start to introduce maybe meaty or more wholesome flavoured puffs/crisps yet?

Are there any brands that cover something like 'roast chicken dinner' in the way of a snack rather than a pouch?? thanks for your help Smile

From 6 months when you start weaning it is fine to give anything other than honey, whole nuts, quorn and less than 1g of salt a day. If you have a family history of food allergy then you need to be cautious and seek medical advice but other wise the evidence suggest the earlier you introduce allergens eg peanuts, kiwi, strawberry and seafood the less likely they are to develop an allergy.

He can have pretty much anything, just watch the salt and sugar content which is common sense really.

I would not give crisps as they are very salty. Give fruit eg cut up grapes, a whole apple, boiled eggs, mini sandwiches, cucumbers sticks etc.

Omg his one just give him normal snacks

Fruit
Cheese
Strips of chicken or ham
Yoghurt
Cucumber sticks
Breadsticks etc

My DD was eating pretty much the same as us from about 7/8 months. Why would there be any flavours you can't give them?
Is there a particular health reason they still have mashed, plain food at over 1??

And you don't need to find brands that make anything, just cool a roast chicken dinner and give it to them! They'll probably lap it up after 6 months of fruit and a few plain puffs Hmm

Straight away? I gave everything basically from day 1 including strong flavours so they’d get used to them. Although for snacks I only really tend to give things like cheese and crackers/chopped veg etc. What sort of stronger tasting snacks are you thinking of?

From 6 months old he can eat normal food.

Just give him normal food and whatever it is youre having. Dont mash or puree it- just as it is (with the exception of things like grapes etc that need to be sliced).

Dd has certain foods that she likes but I'll still try her with different things to see how she goes- atm she loves olives which have a very strong flavour, i wouldn't have known if I hadn't tried.

I haven't been mashing anything for my 13mo for months now. I make sure stuff is cooked well enough or small pieces for meat etc but he eats what we eat.

We watch the salt and sugar only but if he wants to try something, we let him have a taste.

In the last week, as PP said, he's liked olives and really mature cheddar. He likes baby crisps but also adores grapes, pear etc.

He's just eaten a small serving of exactly the same risotto we had for dinner.
