Can't stop thinking about what might have happened

Yesterday I took my 2 DC out. DD (13) was walking ahead and we were crossing a road. It was a 1 way road with a traffic island in the middle. She walked off the island without looking right and a bus was coming. She crossed ok but the bus wasn't far from her when she crossed. I was shocked that it was so close and so was she. She said she only looked left before crossing thinking that was where the traffic was coming from. But last night in bed I couldn't stop thinking what could have happened if she had crossed a few seconds later. I feel sick. I know the incident will make her more careful but I really can't seem to shake off the horrible thought. How do I put this into perspective?

I know exactly what you mean I was similarly disturbed after an incident like that. It's traumatised you but it will fade in time. Try and keep your mind occupied for a few days

Thank you. I know your right. It'll make me more careful too- because of her age and being usually very aware of traffic I kind of had my eye of the ball and was concentrating on younger child. Lessons learned all round I hope.

Flowers

A horrible fright, but I believe someone or something must have been looking out for her.

Thank you. Just wish it had been me!

Flowers We’re on holiday in Portugal and watching my DS (16) walk ahead of us (of course! Why would he want to be seen with us?) has given me major anxiety. His head’s in the clouds and his feet move with the wind. He’s just so nonchalant in traffic (which includes trams- just another worrying aspect). I actually went to bed worrying about his airy fairy approach to crossing roads. He just drifts across roads, ahead of us, blissfully unaware of red pedestrian lights and traffic moving faster towards him than it appears.

I had an incident when one of my kids was tiny that still makes me feel shaky, sick and ill to this day.

It would have been totally my fault if he had been killed. We were very lucky. It still haunts me.you have my sympathy x
