Teeth at 7 weeks!!

Hiya, I just need some advice. My son is 7 weeks and the last 2 weeks has been drooling AOT, he always wants to be held otherwise he constantly cries and when I do hold him he just sucks and dribbled all over my shoulder. He eats a lot so he gets boob and bottle and even after a full feed and top up he sometimes seems like he wants more but then vomits from over feeding. This morning I noticed that on his top and bottom back gums on the right side it appears that he has teeth coming through!!!! But they appear from the side.. I felt his comes and the what looks like teeth and they feel very hard and jagged.. I have ready about the cysts that newborns can get but they're meant to be painless so I feel like maybe these are in fact teeth.. can anyone help? Confused

I think babies can be born with teeth and when that happens they usually remove them but I have no idea at 7 weeks. Maybe give your dentist a call and see what they say?

Some babies can be born with teeth, I didn't know they usually remove them though - do they?? I would have thought they would be left.

However the first teeth to emerge are usually the front four. So I think it would be worth asking your GP/HV for advice in case it's something unusual.

They can be like a third set pre-milk teeth and get in the way off feeding if left, but I believe it's quite rare.

I’d pop along to the GP, the back teeth aren’t meant to come through til much later. Some advice might put your mind at rest Flowers

I think they remove.teeth if babies are born with them. DH was telling me something about this the other day..I think the roots are no good?

Not sure about 7 weeks though.

Just had a Google. They always remove teeth. It just depends. There are lots of variations.

I'm waffling now and being no help at all.

Sorry.

DameSquashalot · 05/08/2018 14:45

They don't always remove teeth.

I'll give up now!

I would ask a dentist.

They don't look like teeth to me OP, they appear to be coming from the middle of the gums, so I'd be inclined to say it's not teeth. Do you have a health visitor you could pop along to see? Or they can usually do home visits.

DD was really droopy around this age, apparently the teeth moving into the right places in the gums (even though you can't see it) is the most painful part and happens quite a while before teething. You can use dentinox teething gel from birth, so that may help.

Apologies if you've tried this already, but have you tried a dummy once he's had a full feed? It may just be comfort sucking and he's then over feeding and vomiting. Crying also peaks around this time, it's a total nightmare but usually settles over the next couple of weeks.
