i have an exam next Thursday (7 June). its a seen paper which i have already.

The problem is, i don't think i can do it.

i havent revised or anything. i have NO time to. i have had both dcs all week, and have next week too. in the evenings i am just too tired to do anything else. I cannot afford to put them in nursery this week either.

I am in my first year btw.there is so much going on in my life at the moment, i feel overwhelmed with this exam too

What i was wondering is would it be rude to ask my support worker to sign me off? I'm also a bit wary of my classmates reactions - they are very competitive and have said nasty things about another girl who has been signed off coursework. But, i am theo nly one there with children under 10. mine are 4 and 2.

ideas on what to do? do i try and get a rubbish mark, if one at all?i don't know how im going to revise though. or do i ask to be signed off?

What would you all do?

TIA

I think it may be better to try to do the exam as best you can.

Try some revising at night once the kids in bed even if it is only half an hour at a time, sit down put your feet up and spread you books out it might surprise you what you take in and what you have already absorbed.

Break it down in to little bits and aim to do one chunk at a time, perhaps read a short piece or write a small bit, what ever you need to do.

I agree with Skribble - you should at least attempt the exam. What's the worst that can happen? If you fail then surely you can resit?

I know how you feel - I have the final exam of my degree course on Thursday and it's only part seen. I just do my revision at night when DS is asleep - yes I may be knackered but it's only one more week of late nights and endless cups of coffee.

I'm sure you'll feel better if you at least try your best - on my course first year marks didn't count towards the final degree anyway.

I shall be thinking of you on Thursday!

TheArmadillo · 01/06/2007 23:45

As it is first year I agree with the others - do the exam, see how you do and then resit if necessary.

Try and fit in bits of revision here and there if you can. Even if its 10 minutes slotted into different parts of the day.

TheArmadillo - have you finished now? When do you get your results?

TheArmadillo · 01/06/2007 23:52

I have finished but don't get my results till July (not worrying daily oh no not me) thanks for asking.

Are you in your final year?

thequeenofcontradiction · 01/06/2007 23:54

Yep one more exam to go on Thurs then it's over. I was thinking of you the other day when I saw an ad for Dexter in a magazine - it's going to be on the FX channel from July (I think). We're probably going to watch it soon...

Good luck for your final exam - feels wierd not having anything to do (well no uni work anyway).

Dexter is fantastic, though gory (i watch it through my fingers). glad its coming to uk.

I would also have a go at it. You can see from other threads on here that I am attempting to write some huge esays in the next 2 weeks and I have 3 kids, though I am lucky to have childcare.

I would just do my best. Let the kids watcha little more tv than normal and sit in the kitchen and revise for 20 mins. Go for the easy options for meals. Get through, and at least atempt it.

Is it something any of us canhelp with (I'm not much help to anyone, I'm a theology student!)

scorpio1 · 04/06/2007 10:37

right, i have decided to do it

i have decided my essay questions, and have written down points that need to be in the essay. i am now going to have a break for half hour, them filter it down to a few points in an essay plan.

then, im going to remember the points in the essay plan! this is my plan until Wednesday night.

Im going to do lots today, tonight. then some tomorrow afternoon and night, then most of wednesday.

The first part of the exam (1st essay) is my strongest. i only need 40% over 2 essays to pass; i should get that alone on 1st one.

heres to hoping

oh and thanks ladies

I had a seen question last year on my exam.

I also left it 'til the last minute...

I took one day to plan, and then I wrote it out five times over two days, under exam -ish conditions (ie, children in front of cbeebies, no notes and timed).

By the time I got into the exam it was a piece of cake .

scorpio1 · 04/06/2007 14:56

have done my plans now. think i will get dp to test me later and keep revisiting it myself over the next few days, all the time!

If it is an essay question write it out in full a few times. It really, really helps.

harrisey · 04/06/2007 21:22

well done scorpio for keeping going. Its hard work but worth it in the end. What is it you are studying?

scorpio1 · 06/06/2007 10:35

Social work.

i have now memorised the plans

exam tomorrow at 9.15am

when i get in there im going to write out all the memorised points and then just use filling in words!
