Napping 13 week old

Hello all
Just wondering if any of you could give me some advice about napping. I have a beautiful 13 week ds who very fortunately sleeps like a dream at night. He falls asleep at 9.30ish at the end of his last feed (ebf) and then sleeps until 6am. I am however having an issue with daytime naps. I cannot at all get him to sleep anywhere but on me or walking with the pram or in the car. This is fine if we’re out and about but at home I could do with him being out down to sleep even if it’s just for an hour so I can do some washing and eat! Has anyone got any ideas about how I can help him nap better?

Have you thought about getting a sling? Although not all people like having their baby on them but if you don’t mind then it’s a god send

Hi thanks for ths reply. I have tried sling napping and it does work but it’s so warm that I worry he’ll get too hot. As soon as it’s a big cooler this will be the method.

Meant to say has anyone used the put down pick up method?

Have you tried white noise? The hoover and the washing machine used to make mine fall asleep. I also spent hours sitting in a rocking chair rocking them to sleep, and pushing them in their pram in the living room.

Hi OP,

Yes I tried to pick up put down from about 6 months. My son also only wanted to sleep in my arms and pretty much never used his Moses basket. I could however get him to nap maybe 45 mins in his rocker.

But at 6 months I wanted to start putting him down for naps in his cot. So I would look for the sleepy cues (rubbing eyes, getting irritable etc) and whisk him off upstairs. I would put him down in cot. If he starts to cry, pick up and I would say shhh and put down. If he cried, pick up, shhh, put down.....

I found it initially took maybe half hour to get him to nod off using this method but maybe over a couple of weeks it got down to 3-4 mins of pick up shhh put down to get him to nod off.

That’s great @rudeycrudey thank you for all the info. I’m going to stay in for the afternoons next week and see if we can do this for his longer afternoon nap. Thanks again

Honestly don’t worry about being too warm, they wrap their babies in Africa to a point of being unable to see them! I read this the other week Smile as long as they’re hydrated and you aren’t in the direct sunlight for long periods of time then they’ll be fine

You could always strip him to his nappy before putting him in the sling
