trouble is with buggies they have every right to ask you to collapse it

TheBlonde · 31/05/2007 10:15

I have a P&T but haven't tried it on a bus or tube
I have seen someone else use the bus but they had to get on at the rear doors

If there is no other buggy on the bus they dont ask you to collapse it usually. And if they do you can always get off and get the next bus. But the P&T is not easy on buses - only just squeezes through the gaps.

I would agree with hatrick - it would be far easier to use a sling with a 2 week old baby if you have one. My philosophy is use a sling as long as possible because you are going to have plenty of time with a pram later!

Congratulations too! I hope everything went well for you.

I have been on buses with mine. Nobody asked me to collapse it. Have also seen others on buses (not collapsed).

You're very brave to contemplate shopping with a 2 week old in Central London. I've only ever shopped in our small town with a newborn, and that was stressful enough. Can you get someone to come with you? The P&T is easy to fold, but impossible if you're holding a baby.

aDad · 31/05/2007 10:26

oh right there is a side by side one? Didn't know that, we just use the double seat.

JoolsToo · 31/05/2007 10:27

do you need to go shopping today?

LynetteScavo · 31/05/2007 10:27

Why would you take a side by side one? Do you have another child as well?

No it will be fab as your little one gets bigger. Really.

We are SW london and regularly take it on the bus with both in. It's always been fine.

not much help, but I avoided any shopping trips with a newborn and a toddler, not my idea of fun, esp in central london!!!

but if you do go, don't wait for someone to offer, just ask someone, the first perosn that you see, am sure they wouldn't refuse

Do let us know how you get on. I've got a P&T, but haven't taken it to in to London.

DrDaddy · 31/05/2007 12:14

I did this recently, funnily enough, but in Bristol. The bus driver insisted I collapse the buggy. DS2 was asleep. There was a stand off. He said he wouldn't drive until I collapsed it. I said fine. And waited. Other passengers shouted at driver. He harrumphed and drove off. Sorted.
btw - there was easily enough space for people to get past.

TheBlonde · 31/05/2007 14:15

Where are all these bus routes in SW London with no other buggies on? I always have trouble just squeezing a maclaren on!

LynetteScavo · 31/05/2007 20:02

You're a brave man Dr Daddy. How was you day, summer fruit?
