Hi,

Is it wrong to tell people when chatting about your childrens activities or posting on social media site proud of DD today for xxx?
DD is doing really well in a particular activity and so naturally I'm proud when she achieves something in it and will often post it on FB etc.
I've been accused of showing off and a particular friend never says well done or likes the posts but when her children achieves things she post and I will like the posts and I say well done etc or if we are out and about will say well done to her child.

Long and short is it wrong to be proud of childrens achievements and want to share them.?

If you want to share them, then do but accept it can be irritating

I share mine mainly because extended family love seeing them, but I have a group of mums who never ever comment, probably because they have unfollwed me Grin I don't mind at all

To the majority it's really irritating seeing posts like that

Who do you want to share the news with? Maybe set up a family group on FB or WhatsApp.

It’s Facebook not the real world. Personally I don’t put my photos of my child or anything about her on my Facebook page and I hardly ever post things about myself.

You are unreasonable to expect people to read your posts and comment on them and like them. If she did not acknowledge your children achievements if you were have an actual real life conversation then that would be an issue.

Blagora · 27/07/2018 10:19

I don't understand what people think Facebook is for if not to document bits of your life.

I find endless minion meme sharing far more irritating than someone's kid winning a swimming race.

Then why the fuck are they on Facebook!

Is she trekking to the south pole, or pulling herself up to standing using the sofa?
Grin
All about context.

1confusedmummy · 27/07/2018 10:21

I actually dont share it with certain people including this friend anymore but was confused why she shares her DD's achievements but slates me for it.
I'm not just talking about on FB etc we are good friends so when out and about naturally chat about our children and she may say DD achieved this and I'll say well done but if I talk about my DD's achievements it gets bypassed.

Aw I'd be happy seeing either!

Maybe I'm wierd as I love seeing all the things friends and friends kids have done

Slanetylor · 27/07/2018 10:25

I think if you’re going it often it’s a little bit irritating. I love seeing what other peoples families get up to. But I don’t post my children’s pictures on Facebook either. Sometimes I’ve only 2 minutes so will like but not comment.
I do think if the sAme people are posting the same stuff all the time, I feel ughhh like I’m obliged to complement them again on the same thing.

1confusedmummy · 27/07/2018 10:25

Blagora I love seeing anything about any of DD's friends and I'm always pleased when they do well in anything.

anotherangel2 just spotted your reply.

I dont expect people to comment, I am on about a good friend not just a casual acquaintance.
It happens in real life.
To give an example her youngest recently passed a swimming stage I said well done and high fived the little one. My oldest just got onto team at gymnastics (her DD is still in beginners) and when chatting she didnt say anything to me or DD.
