Baby hitting head on base board

Hi was looking for some advice. Our boy has been flipping over and hitting his head on the base board in his large cot, he’s 7 months. I said about potentially padding up the board say by taping a pillow round it.

Is that nuts? And has anyone else had similar problems? Just worried he’ll damage his head.

Please don’t strapna pillow to it. If the pillow were to fall on baby or could potentially suffocate them.

Is he actually hurt by it? DD's cot makes spectacular noises when she bangs her head on the end but it doesn't bother her at all. It seems to be soft and absorb movement, giving out the energy as noise.

I’m not going to do the pillow been researching other methods. Definitely don’t want suffocation risks. He keeps doing it though. Am worried how often he can do it before it causes damage. Apologies if seem ott just unsure.

Airflow bumpers are good. I got them on amazon

My ds has always done this and his head is fine and dandy 😊

I think my son does this on purpose to be honest, doesn’t seem to bother him!

PotteringAlong · 29/07/2018 12:21

Mine did this. I just left them to it Blush

My son likes to sleep against the head board, he constantly bangs his head against it but doesn't seem hurt by it. He even does it in his sleep.

Thanks very much and that does reassure me. Thanks everyone. I’ll keep an eye on it in the interim :)

My ds sleeps at the top of his cot - has done since he was capable of moving up there. And even if you slide him down he shuffles back up; he has even done this in his sleep!

PasstheStarmix · 29/07/2018 20:21

Much rather he banged his own head that he’s in control of than suffocate on dangerous bumpers. He will learn to stop eventually (although saying that ds still does it on occasion now and he is 16 months!)

chequeplease · 29/07/2018 21:05

Even airflow bumpers pose a risk of strangulation so I'd just leave it tbh.
